I'm getting this too now. See no one has replied in three years though.

Dead module. Deleting it.

Since there is no actual support option (that I can find) for this website I have had no choice but to put it here.

I have not logged into XOOPS for a long time, and (almost) forgot my username/password. I tried to register but no matter what you put into the validation code it is incorrect. This needs to be looked at as there is no "Contact Us" page for help on the website which is either pretty arrogant or short sighted. Either way, people who have this problem can't register or say they can't register because they can't get noticed.

So for all you Mods, Devs and other people who solve problems on XOOPS.org:

There IS a problem with this website.

There is at least 1 other post that addresses this issue, but since finding things a second time on this site is pretty hellish I can't locate it.

Ive gone through a lot of the themes on this site, and most of them just give me a white screen. Luckily I always keep a browser open in the Admin area so I can change to a theme I know works.

I used to use these themes a few years back when I used Xoops, now though it seems support for these themes has vanished as new versions come out.

As for it not supporting certain modules, I have deactivated all but the system, and still all I get is white screens.

Xoops has got old since I first started using it back when RC2 was in beta. Nothing has rally changed, old bugs have been ironed out an new ones introduced.

So why do I still use it? Well I know its quirkes. Like my old car, it rattles along but I know when its likely to break down so I just pull over and let it cool down, or just stay in. I can afford a new one, but I've had this car since new. Get the picture. I don't hate it, it just pisses me off every now and then when I need to use it.

I have used both XOOPS and Mambo to build websites and I can tell you now that given a choice I would choose Xoops. Simply put, Mambo is a bitch to figure out when you are new to CMS's. Mambo is designed professionally so you have to have some idea about what you indend to do, whereas XOOPS has the flexibility to be whatever you want it to be.

To test Mambo I created a test install and I played with various compnents and modules and it looked nice but it didn't feel right. Its got some nice features that I would love to seen in XOOPS but I like the customisation of Xoops. Themes are important to me, and Mambo's themes are pretty grey when it comes to looking snappy and eye-catching.

Yes, I've trid making my own themes to no avail. Its just too complicated at my current level of design.

If you still can't make up your mind, set aside and evening and install Mambo, add a few components and modules, have a poke in its guts and then decide what you will do.

People will probably disagree with what I have said here but, its down to personal preference really, and I found XOOPS my preference.

Nope, nothing to indicate that anything is wrong.

But I know there is.

Missing Blocks

Even after updating every module including the system module I can't get some blocks to appear, like the Top Members and New Members. Who's Online appears, as well as the shoutbox and the default user and main menu's.

Group access is fine and the Block settings say they should be displaying...

Anyone shed any light?

Tried changing the "Default Comment Display Mode" but it only changes the comments, not the forums.

Or at least it doesn't work for me. Selecting anying there doesn't affect the way posts and replies are displayed in the forums.

In my old XOOPS site, for some reason the forums were flat (how I want it). Now though, a good year later when I put XOOPS back on I can't find out how to make the forums stay flat, they seem to revert to threaded each time I log in as if it doesn't remember my settings.

Dynamenu is not supported by Xoops2 and yes, all it will do is bring up a blank screen, this is becuase it isn't compatible with Xoops2.

I'm looking out for a alternate which will work with version 2 as the current menu looks as interesting a grey pebble.

How do I get two forums running side by side?

Is there a way I can get two forum modules (newBB) to run seperatly without using the same database?

I have little sql experience so if there is an easy way then great, if not, give me all the gritty details and I can have a play. Alternatively if there is no way then thanks for your time...

Hope some of you can help...

I replaced all the newBB template files from ones freshly downloaded and still have the same problem.

I am running 2.0.6
