Re: Limiting forum search to a members groups

I wonder if it would work to only give permission to see the search block to your special Forum "members" group.

If you still want other users to have access to a search function, perhaps it would be satisfactory to give them permission for the google search block with your site specified in the search string.

A site specific search in google looks like this:
search term site:xoops.org
http://www.google.com/search?q=search+term+site%3Axoops.org

Just a thought for a workaround. Hope that helps.

California Requires Privacy Policy

Effective July 1, 2004 all "commercial entities" collecting personal data from Californians must post a privacy policy.

San Francisco Business Journal Article

I had seen a clever Xoopser create a "Privacy Module" (a wrapper named Privacy, I believe) that looked like it might be handy.

Actually, it's at the XMod Team site:

But, I did not see a link to download it.

I just lost part of my administration menu. I don't remember the exact name of the part, but it is like the 'System' thing or whatever. It is the yellow button in the admin area that had Groups, Blocks, Preferences, Templates, etc. Well, I just logged into my site and that is gone. I can still do stuff to forums, polls, downloads, etc...but that thing disappeared. Any suggestions?

Maybe I'm missing something but the link you gave to the glossaire module is not smarty enabled, it's the exact same as the org. module.

This cannot be changed, unfortunately. The users are always registered to a group with an ID defined for XOOPS_GROUP_USERS in mainfile.php of your site.

All you'd have to do is change the XOOPS_GROUP_USERS value to the new default group number, theoretically. I'm not sure if this would mess anything up in the XOOPS core, but I think that should do the trick.

Good luck!

I recently posted the following comment to the thread athttps://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=10068&forum=20

It may be more relevant here.

Can anyone help or suggest a way forward on how to limit the ability of guests (and ordinary registered users) to see references to material in the forum when they use search - but still allow a by-appointment 'members' group to search the forum?

I have a similar problem, but mine isn't really fixed by simply switching off the search function in newbb, although I may have to settle for that as a compromise.

I have three groups (+ Admin): (1) anonymous guests (2) registered users (3) appointed members - a subset of the resgistred users.

Ideally, I'd like the forum to be bisible (and searchable) only by members.

I can set it up so (a) no-one can search - but then members can't search their own forum - (b) or have search switched on, in which case two groups which shouldn't be aware of the forum keep finding references to it when they do a search.

Is there a hack for this? (I'm running 2.05) Or am I asking too much?

Incidentally, I chose XOOPS for a particular project afrer first considering some other options (drupal came closest). I love XOOPS - but still find that i lack the permissins flexibility I really seek.

ideally, I'd like every single feature to be swithcable on or off for any group or individual. No CMS I'ce found so far seems to be able to do that.

Xoops comes fairly close - at least for group permisssions management - but this is a case in point where more flexibnility would be nice.

Having said that, what an amazing CMS! Compliments to all who've brought it to this point.

Re: Multiselect in preferences - how do I?

Thanks for a very fast reply.

I've tried this:
//Preferences
$modversion['config'][1]['name'] = 'selected_sections';
$modversion['config'][1]['title'] = '_MI_TEAM_SECTIONS';
$modversion['config'][1]['description'] = '_MI_TEAM_SECTIONSDESC';
$modversion['config'][1]['formtype'] = 'select multi';
$modversion['config'][1]['valuetype'] = 'array';
$modversion['config'][1]['default'] = array(123456);
$modversion['config'][1]['options'] = array('Tactics' => 1'Matches' => 2'Availability' => 3'Positions' => 4'Stats' => 5'Player Profiles' => 6);

and get this error message:
Warninghtmlspecialchars() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/ruffdesigns.co.uk/web_users/Mithrandir/class/module.textsanitizer.php on line 252
