With three of them giving blank pages, you might shoot an e-mail to the folks at 7dana.com and let them know you're having a problem. I'm not too sure how supportive they'll be if it's a free theme though.

I'm using 7dana-soft on my site. Here is what I did:

1. Upload 7dana-soft (or other) theme to /xoops/themes/. ( I didn't check the CH-MOD permissions.)
2. Go to System Admin -> Preferences, and make sure Update module template .html files from themes/your theme/templates directory? is set to "Yes".
3. Set your default theme to 7dana-soft.
4. Update every module under System Admin -> Modules.
5. Voila!

This is only what I did and it seemed to work fine. See it here.

Hi There,

Surfing with Mozilla Firefox .08 and the right hand menu is waaaaaaaaaaay off to the right. You might actually develop your site in Mozilla, and then test it in IE... Just a thought.

There's a way to do this in 2.0.6. Just use the User Rank Settings under System -> User Ranks.

It would replace the stars with your image, but if you're trying to display a funny "Forum Newbie" image, it might actually be helpful.

You could also create another rank where your user's avatar would disappear, and they would then have the ability to set their own avatar by editing the avatar for their profile...just set the number of posts to the same number in user ranks and avatars and it should work... Right?

I haven't actually tried this, but it seems like it would work?

Is your XOOPS site set to go to the news module as home, or are you saying that the news articles are publishing on the home page instead of the news module?

If it's the first, you can change it in Administration -> Preferences -> Module for your start page

If it's the second, isn't there a way to save all of your articles and just reinstall the module? You can use the phpmyadmin module to backup the tables you need I think.

1. Check to make sure that registration is not disabled in the Admin -> Preferences.

You might want to provide a bit more detail when asking a question... XOOPS version? Error Messages? Did this suddenly happen or after you installed something? What was the last thing you did?

Hi arjanv,

Visit your control panel and go to System Admin -> Groups

Here you can choose Anonymous Group and check the modules you want them to see. Uncheck the ones you don't want them to see.

For your special users, create a group called "Special" or something similar and you can check the modules you want them to see.

Hope this helps...

You can change this from Control Panel -> Preferences -> General Preferences.

Change Default Comment Display Mode from "Nested" to "Flat".

I think this is what you are looking for. Hope this helps. I'm using 2.0.6, not sure about previous versions.

The articles module found here might help you.

I used that for a while for Movie and Music reviews, but it can be used for anything.

It also includes a recent articles block that you could display on your main page or on the articles page itself.

I've found that most things you want to display in your XOOPS page can be accomplished using pre-made modules.

max100,

The easiest way to admin your site that I have found is to open up two IE windows. Openhttp://www.yourXOOPSsite.com/admin.php in one, and in the other, openhttp://www.yourXOOPSsite.com.

Play with the settings in the admin section, then go and refresh your XOOPS page and see what your changes look like. It takes a while to play with it to see what everything does. My advice would be to spend a couple of hours browsing through the Beginner's Corner to see what kind of questions those people had.

I'm new to XOOPS myself, but after about 2 weeks, I know pretty much how to develop a site from the ground up now... All from help from this community.

Hope this helps...

How many people took advantage of the free three year plan from 1and1? I'm enjoying their service.
