I'm a little late to this thread, but to answer your question about the news on my gaining-mass.com site; I simply built a custom block and block template to display the news info the way I wanted. I did the same for most of the site. I didn't like the way the block (and their templates) made most sites look the same, so I simply built new blocks (and templates) to get the result I desired.

put it in a div tag with a style for overflow.

<div style="width: 50px; height: 50px; overflow-x:auto; overflow-y: auto">

content

</div>

I use custom blocks on my homepage. You will not find them included in XOOPS or it's modules. It's not very difficult to do these yourself. I just had a very specific need and layout, so I made ones to fit them.

What I don't get is that I looked at www.gaining-mass.com and there draven had a free signup for email etc page which seemed to be loading from an external site but displaying under freecontent. That seemed pretty cool that you could load external content (as if perhaps in a frame set) but recode the links to appear internal to your site. Or Perhaps I have this totally wrong....

Looking at Draven's site again maybe he's just uploaded some html pages he's tailored to this section. But if so why not use wfsections or similar for this pretty simple task?

I use Freecontent because my WFsections is used on as an article management for my 4 sections. To just throw in a single page it would end up in one of my article categories and be publiched in my article section. Or I'd have to create a whole new category, didn't make sense.

I have a few pages on my site, like privacy policy, that I just make basic HTML pages and wrap them. It's better for how I have my site structured. I only use wfsections for my articles, nothing else.

I said it in the other thread and I'll say it here, such discussions are being held at dev.xoops.org. Do not think these topics are not being heavily discussed. If you wish to have discussions about them here then by all means do, we read these forums as well. But just because we haven't posted here with a solution doesn't mean it's not in the works.

One of the things the Quality COntrol team will be doing is giving modules a "Seal of Approval" for modules that meet the guidelines set for module development, this will include being compliant in CSS, XHTML and other things.

Damn, I didn't even get an honerable mention.

If really want to help out on the develoment why not go to the dev site? These forums are for support of the product, the dev site is for development discussions.

Guys I doubt something like this would ever be implemented in the core since the positions you are asking for are module related. I have ads in all different positions using blocks and sometime embedding the code in articles pages and so on. Use the PHPadsNew Module I ported. You can find it athttp://wfsections.xoops2.com/modules/mydownloads/viewcat.php?cid=16 and build your zones and so on in there. Then just add the code to your pages for each zone you create.

Pheww! It was down earlier but seems to be there now, yes. That scared me a bit. I use IPBM alot and it would suck if it was not being supported anymore. Gave myself a minor heart attack there.
