I noticed this today too, on the only site that I had allowed new user registrations - martin190 was the name registered.

...deleted it and deactivated new user registration.

Hello all,

I had the same issue, with the template admin section losing it's formatting and being barely usable. It happened to me apparently when I uninstalled a module that I had installed prior to the upgrade to 2.2.1.

After upgrading, I deactivated and uninstalled the Evennews module. Some time after that, I noticed I had the template issue.

Just for the heck of it, I reinstalled Evennews, and the template admin section looks as good as ever.

That being said, I also INSTALLED the PM module after the upgrade, so that could have something to do with it? I didn't test that part of the equation.

Perhaps the above could help those with the same problem. Everything else with 2.2.1 works like a charm.

Here's a tidbit of info that may point to the issue's source:

After upgrading to 2.2.1, I was doing more modifications, and due to the fact that I couldn't get the Evennews module to work correctly, I deactivated it and uninstalled it.

Apparently this was the issue, because when I re-installed it, the template admin section looks like it is supposed to now.

So....a word of caution...be careful when uninstalling modules after upgrading to 2.2.1 (I guess...)!

Thanks for the info.

It does help, but is there a better way around this?

I'm thinking that I may revert back to my 2.2 backup instead. The security issue mentioned in the 2.2.1 upgrade release notice made me want to do the upgrade.

upgrade from 2.2 to 2.2.1 template problem

Hello,

I just upgraded from 2.2 to 2.2.1. Everything is working well EXCEPT the template admin section.

I have cloned the default template set and have heavily modified it over the last week.

Since the upgrade, it seems that the template admin section has totally lost all formatting. ...looking at the source code for the template admin page, there's no header (head section), and no /body or /html tags at the bottom. Nothing's lined up correctly, etc...

However, I can tell that there's two sets of templates and if I click on a module template set from what I "think" is the cloned set, I get a nice, normally formatted page with the usual listing of blocks, all of which are editable.

Any ideas as to what's going on and how to fix it? I guess technically it is working, but it's difficult to use without the usual look.

I do have a backup of my site which I made before the upgrade...just in case...

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi!

You could probably use Multimenu along with a content module like Content, TinyD, Cjay, etc.

You would put your content into one of the content modules that would provide you with a link URL to use with Multimenu. When you click on one of the menu items you set up in Multimenu, it would bring you to the content you've saved in the content module.

Actually, you may not need to use Multimenu, depending on your specific setup. I'd try to get what you need out of the Content modul.

I'm not sure of this, but you may want to check into WFChannel...but I don't have enough experience with that module...

Hi!

You would probably need to edit the template files for the module you're using in order to get the look you want... See if there are any "br" tags (linebreaks) that may be the cause of the problem, between the title and your text. Also, "P" tags may also be to blame, so look for those as well.

When I see a problem like this, I look at the source file of the page first to see where the problem is - When you have the problem page in the browser window, "view page source" and scroll down to where the text is. More than likely you'll see the cause of the problem...then looking through the templates will be easier. ...sometimes.

FYI...install guides are located in the "docs" folder of XOOPS download.

Download Xoops, unzip, click the folder you unzipped it to and there should be a folder called "docs". In this folder is a file called install.html.

Hi Patrick,

hmmmm...I'm not sure what's going on here.

You can ignore my comments concerning the name of the blocks template file...I thought you were using the "news" module, however you mention in your last post that it's actually the "articles" module.

I am not using the articles module so I can't say that it's a problem I've run into before. Perhaps someone else has seen this before?

The only thing I can think of is that there may be some sort of conflict with that module and XOOPS 2.2 (if you're using 2.2 that is...). Are you using Articles 1.0 rc1? That version is supposed to be compatible with XOOPS 2.2.

Hi,

As far as #1 goes, I don't get the same results as you're getting. I have two Topics, and if I use the following link:

http://www.yoursitehere.com/modules/news/index.php?storytopic=2

..I get only stories from my second topic. That being said, I only use one topic typically, so I wouldn't typically have that problem. I put up a second topic and put an article in it in order to test your question.

I use the Multimenu module on my sites, and can add a menu item with the above link so that the linked page only shows articles from one topic.

Curious...when you say "a select box is provided in the Edit block form", which block are you editing?

Alternatively, you can follow the link below to see how to add the link above to your main menu. You would just need to replace the "storytopic=" number with the corresponding number of the Topic you want to display:

https://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=261

....#2 on your list:

I noticed this too recently...when editing or creating your story, there's a field called "author". I had to change it to "admin" (specific to my site...you may have a different name you'll be using) when I first started using this module, even though I was logged in. I had to click "list" and "add" my username to the drop down list (again, this is all next to the "author" field selection when creating or editing a news item).

I think "anonymous" is in there until you add other names via the above method.

...hope that helps...
