Re: Xoops 2 module wish list

Well most of these modules are available for the 1X series, I'm not sure if they work in the 2 series as I haven't tested them yet. You can get the UserPoints, Newsletter, Webmail, Dating, and Chat modules from the downloads area, or at Modscentral.com

In upcoming releases of Xoops, we're going to be enhancing the Top Members Block to add more UserPoints features and XOOPS 2 includes an Image Gallery and the ability to send Email from within the system.

Re: Xoops 2 module wish list

I would like some generic database modules, where you can specify fields and operations... here are some examples.

moduleCreator:
http://www.aporta.com/modules/start/

Generic Database Module:
PN Generic Database Beta Module

Hooks Module Proposals:
PN Hooks Module Proposal

But, for performance and ease of use (read quality of code) reasons, I prefer XOOPS instead of switching to the CMS these modules are currently ported for.

I've got a few more to add to the list.

Reviews: A good review module.
Radio: A audio mod that would allow one to listen to various audio streams/clips. Admin should allow for different formats, i.e. Real, WMA, MP3, QuickTime, Ogg-Vorbis.
Video: Along the same lines as above. Maybe both could be integrated into one mod. Should support QT, RM, WMV, MPEG, DIVX.
I know audio/video can be done in XOOPS using HTML, but having a mod for it would simplify adding a/v content as well as make it easier to organize/update.

I got a request also. It would be great if Xoopsgallery could be made compatible with Gallery Remote.

I was able to upgrade my older version of gallery to xoopsgallery 1.3.3 after upgrading to xoops2. I know it was mentioned that xoopsgallery would not be supported, but I want make a couple requests in case you work on it more.

1. I noticed that new images all have database entries in xoopsgallery_image, and people can submit/view comments for these pics. After using the new gallery some, I learned that if I moved an old pic to another album, the database entries was created for it, and comments system was available. Will someone write a script that will bring all the old pics up-to-date with the same properties of new pics? Also, is it possible to migrate comments from the old system to the XOOPS comments system?

2. Another thing I found, is if you click on a pic directly, you can add/view comments for it. But if you are navigating from one pic to the next from within an album, the comments aren't available. The only thing I see when looking at the url is that the 'xoops_imageid' isn't getting passed when navigating pic to pic. If someone works on the gallery more, will you change it so the comments are available either way?

thanks,

Peter

I will but it might be a while as I don't have too much time to work on that. Only a few hours here and there.

Nevermind. I found my problem. I accidentally deleted one of the stupid single quotes.

I am creating an albanian language file. I only have translated a few files so far. I just got done translating most of the global.php file and it is not showing my translation but the XOOPS variable name (_LOGIN or _PASSWORD). Now, I am using character set ISO-8859-1 and language code al and multibyte is 0. I even opened it with notepad and saved it from notepad thinking that TextPad was having some to do with the problem. The funny thing is that my other files display correctly and have some of the same characters. I have looked at the file several times to see if I missed a comma or a quotation mark but everything seems ok. Are there any characters that I need to escape that I don't know about.? Any Ideas?

On the other hand, I have some weird bug here. The upload window's icons don't show up. When I click on Properties for the images, I get this weird URL:

http://www.texasriverbass.com/sites/texasriverbass.com/htdocs/modules/xoopsgallery/images/computer.gif

As you can see, gallery is trying to read the images from a combination of XOOPS_PATH and XOOPS_ROOT_PATH together...!

I am still debugging this right now to try and find the cause of the problem, but if someone has a quick solution up their sleeve, I will be glad to hear it here. There is no permission problem on my site, and safe_mode is off.

Another issue here is that after I update the preferences for Gallery, right after the transition screen where it says "Database has been updated successfuly", the module redirects to the wrong location:

Not Found
The requested URL /modules/xoopsgallery/admin/index.php was not found on this server.

Both of them are known problems and will be fixed with the next patch.
