Re: PAID MODULE DEV WORK - Looking for an Xoops Mod Dev

yeah, I should have known better, but now I'm willing to be a little more patient and wait for someone who can get it done in a reasonable amount of time :)

PAID MODULE DEV WORK - Looking for an Xoops Mod Dev

Hello,

I'm tired of waiting for a new version of XOOPS to come out.

I'm looking for an experienced RELIABLE Xoopser to do some dev work on my website EclipseMagazine.com. I want to take it to the next level and incorporate a bunch of broadband features. Basically I want to build some subsites similar to MTV's The Vspot, or Gametrailers.com or Gamevideos.com or IGN, with that kind of functionality.

So what I need are a couple of things -

1) improvements made to the news Module - "minor hacks" (or an entirely new module) that include article sorting, some better display options, true multi-category functionality. I'd like to display my blocks by category and news topic - for instance, I'd like to have all of my Movie stuff - news, reviews, rss feeds (something along the lines of gametab.com), etc grouped together with it's own group of blocks. Real URLs. I also don't want whatever the latest article is, to be the "real url" name for the site.

2) Multi-Site capability - I want to be able to run a network of broadband websites, and split my current site into 4 different news sites run on sub domains. Right now the content is out of control, and I desperately need to split all of our coverage areas into things like movies.eclipsemagazine.com, dvds.eclipsemagazine.com, etc.
I don't want to lose my legacy content, which is why, I want to stick with Xoops, and use Sub domains, so that hopefully when they launch, I can set each news topic category to map to the subdomains with minimal fuss.

3) A Drupal Video Module conversion. Drupal has a couple of great video modules, one for display, and another that is a RSS Video Module that displays videos from sites like YouTube, Google, etc. I'd like to get those converted over to an XOOPS format as well.

I'll probably think of more things, but these are the most immediate. I will tell you upfront, that I'm only going to pay a 3rd of your quote upfront. I've been burned EVERY time I've attempted to hire a XOOPS developer, and won't ever pay another one in full (before I see the finished product) again.

If you think you can do it and work under these conditions, please email me at malexandria@eclipsemagazine.com .

Re: Login Problems

actually a simple repair db command fixed everything.

Re: Login Problems

thanks for your help, but I think this is sort of the last straw and will be switching to something else in the next few days. But I will say you are correct, somehow the sessions table got corrupted, so I need to figure out an easy way to replace the table, or just wait until my site is switched over. In case you were wondering here's the error message -\]

SQL query: Edit

SHOW INDEX FROM `xoops_session` ;

MySQL said: Documentation
#1016 - Can't open file: 'xoops_session.MYI'. (errno: 145)

Login Problems

Hi everybody,

I have a login problem with my XOOPS 2.0.13.2 site. If I log in, it accepts my credentials, but then it returns to a non-logged in mode. I changed nothing, it just happened when I woke up and I have no clue, what so ever. It doesn't appear to be a db problem or server side problem. Since I can't log in, I can't make a php dump or whatever. It's not my computer, since I have several XOOPS sites, no problems there. Does anyone have any suggestion? Thanks in advance!

michelle

Re: Any module requests?

I would like you to put the article ordering back into the news module, I don't know why it was removed, but it's vital to give editors some sort of ability to control article displays without changing the publish date.

Re: Urgent - Still Looking for Help!

I'm still looking for someone to help me with this. If you can please email me, I've tried every conceiveable configuration and installation routine and NOTHING WORKS!@!! This has to be a problem with the table itself and that's what I need someone to help me with.

did you update the module.? Resized Image

and did you try..

5) If you are using the default template set. First create some test news then
go on the part of your website where your users can see the news (for example
http://www.example.com/modules/news). If you can see the test news, come back
to the admin part of your site. Go in the news module's preferences and for
the option named "News Display Layout" select "By topic". Come back to the
visible part of your website (http://www.example.com/modules/news).
If you can see your news, ignore the rest of this point, else, if you
can't see the news then, in admin -> templates, beside the default template
set, click on the link named "Clone", give it a name then go in
admin -> preferences, select "General Settings" and in the scrolling list
called "Default template set", select the template you have previously
cloned.

Yet?

Update as in run an UPpdate script? Is there one? I did copy the 1.44 files over the 1.31 and ran the regular update from the modules admin area

I don't know if this applies in your situation, but this is something that happened to me last night.

I had a semi-dormant site that was using 2.010. We recently switched servers, so I just backed the site and the database up with the intention of attending to it one day.

Last night, I decided to upload the site. I had forgotten what version of XOOPS it was, so I just created a database, uploaded my site and added all the updates I thought were necessary for 2.0.13. Needless to say, it didn't come out too well. It was a total mess with phpdebug errors out the yingyang.

I deleted everything except the mainfile.php, uploads, themes and a few html files I needed. I even dumped the database. (Of course, I had a backup of the original site.)

Next, I re-uploaded the original site with the exception of the files/folders I retained AND re-installed 2.0.10's core files from a copy I have on my hard drive.

Works perfect now and I decided to upgrade the whole thing to 2.2.4. I've got to do some work on the site, but none of it is related to the upgrade.

The whole process took about 3 hours.

welll, that's pretty much what I did, I cleared out the entire directory and did a fresh install, then I went back to the DB and replaced all the major tables with the old tables.
