I was late in discovering Xoops, since I started out with ZOPE/CMF, but my gamers wanted PHP, and that's what they got. I like Xoops a lot, although there's lots to be done, still.

Theme Changer 2.0 was released. This enables you to switch your themes for each module. By using a special theme file, a module and mysql, it switches themes.
