well, I found at least a part of the problem with not being able to access the admin menus. I had a duplicate "system" row in the _modules table.

I deleted the second one and can now access everything under the admin area, however I do get a lot of script debugging errors while in the admin menus. I guess I can live with it for now.

Does anyone have any ideas? I've searched and found countless posts with this same issue, but nobody ever offers up a solution.

I've had this problem for several months now. The same problem happens in 2.0.10 and 2.0.12a.

When I log into the site and try to access the Admin menu, im taken to a blank page that gives the following error:

Quote:
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/xxxxxxx/public_html/header.php on line 100

the above message appears in 2.0.10

When I use 2.0.12a, the error message that appears is
Quote:
The seleted module does not exist!
When using the 12a setup, the error message appears inside my regular theme, wheras in 0.10, the error is just on a blank page.

I've activated all the logging I could access in teh FAQ section. I've also read several posts where other people are having the same problems, but they never get a good resolution.

I have no idea where to go from here. I've put in a fresh set of files for both the .10 and .12a versions, cleared /cache and /templates_cache, check and verified 777 permissions on /cache /templates_cache /upload and mainfile.php.

It is important to note that I can access my other modules on the site, nut not anything under the admin menu.

Thanks in advance for any assitance.

I think just about every news module has what you are looking for.

The reason I went with xf-section instead of wf-section was that(aside from how slow and buggy wf-section is) I had several different categories that I wanted to show information about. With wf-section, there was not an easy way to create a separation in the categories.

Also, it may seem petty, but I did not want my url having wfsection in it. Id rather the url display the area of the site the user is visiting. This is also the reason I did not use tinycontent.

XF also has the ability to add files to any particular article, like pdf's, jpgs, whatever.....

You could have all of your articles in one section if you want to, but the way you described what you were lookign for, it appears that you wanted separate categories. if you just put all the "sections" under one category, it will not really make anything easier, but with the kind of site you are lookign to build, will end up being more difficult for you in the long run. (my experience and opinion.

I wish I could more reasons why xf is better, but I spent over a year trying to find a module that would work like xf-section. I tried every single content management mod on this site, and was so happy when I got around to xf.

Im not s sportfan, so I can't comment on the quality of the content. I can however comment on a few things about the layout, and what I would expect. Im not a pro designer, these are just my suggestions.....

- After logging in, (guest/password} you Welcome to LansingSportsRage.com block is still visiable. This is not somethign I woudl need/like to see everytime I log into the site.

- navigation. The navigation gets put down low on the page. Below recent visits, seach and who's online. When I visit sites, I like the navigation to be easily available.

- calendar and coming events. It woudl be better if Todays events and coming events appeared closer to the calendar. It just ties everythign up a little better.

I like the look and the feel of the site. I would just get rid of some of the useless blocks that do not pertain sportsnews, or move them below the news blocks. Its nice to have the more important topics, or topics that change at teh top of the page.

Sometimes less is more, just because you have it, does not mean you have to use it.

I just read your post again. The best thing to use is going to be the xf-section mod. Install it, and then run the /modules/xfsection/admin/duplicate.php script.
