Yes I have searched and read the FAQ's and all about this and tried everything that was told in there but yet to no avail I still get a blank page...

I have moved my site from my old dedicated server to my VPS server.

I have checked to physical and virtual paths are correct in my mainfile.php which they are. All the other sites on my VPS are running fine one other site is also running XOOPS and is showing perfectly.

I migrated and moved all my sites using the WHM copy a account from another server feature and this is the 1st time this has happened.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cannot help much if we cannot get to the site to look at it! Have you checked with your hosting provider to ensure its nothing from there end? Also have you checked your ISP also they sometimes cause issues I know my ISP blocked me from gaining access to my site once before.

Little bit more info than just it crashed would help a lot

On the second question see the Regular Database Backup With Cron (updated) article on my site.

You will need a current database backup to restore. How much you can afford to loose is how you decide how much to backup. I run 7 separate jobs that at the end of the week give me 7 separate backups (one each night) over written weekly.

HTH.

Pretty much this is right regarding the database but he failed to inform you about the files in your website no point in backing up a database without the files to match.

You would backup all the folders and files that are in your public_html folder ensuring you keep the original folder and file tree. Once you have done that then simply backup the database manually. Ensure that you turn your site off whilst you do this to ensure that nobody makes any changes to your site or posts in the forum whilst your doing your back up.

Jdseymours cron job is very handy but I find it in your situation when you want to do you main backup of your files in your website you should also do a database backup so that they both are the same..

If you ever lose your site or bust it for any reason you simply upload the backed up files and folders ensureing you keep the original tree and also import the backed up database.

HTH

shhh I think jdseymour is cron job happy.... (Dun tell him I said that

I think you should rethink your attacks on the members of this board both herko and monty are highly reputable members of the XOOPS community that both have brought a lot to XOOPS and might I add they do this in there own time and do this for free.

why do i always get the jerks, that try and ruin your site?

There is no need to call these members jerks and this is one way to isolate yourself in future requests for help. Why should anybody help you if your simply going to abuse them when they do give you advice.

You seem to expect a lot from a community that devotes there time for free and when they do give you help you abuse them shame on you. You show me any open source portal or project that does not come with bugs or problems I garantee you will not find any.

If your so unhappy about XOOPS why use it then? You seem to me a person that has fiddled with his theme and stuffed it up and now is trying to blame others for his own mistakes.

Thats a hairy one LOL.

As for knowing whether a person is underage or not your really never going to be 100% sure unless they provide phot ID and even then that could be bodgy so really there is no safeguard against that except hoping that all members that join are honest.

As for showing certain parts to certain people or members that you would have to look in the group permissions area of your admin panel under the main admin part, you can create different groups like the kids group and set the permissions accordingly and then a group for adult members and so on and so on.

As for the blocks I am hazarding a guess that you can control these the blocks area of your admin panel it will show you what blocks are available and you can put them wherever you wish on the site according to the weight you give them for example weight 1 would be the top of your page weight 10 would be round the bottom of it.. You also can set permissions on the group permissions what blocks are viewable by what group of members.

I hope this has helped I am sure somebody else may be able to explain it better than me if you don't.

If you search through the forums you will come accross a couple of posts that address your question here is one

https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=19911&forum=27&post_id=85794#forumpost85794

I know there is another in the news article section but that is using there images but I am sure you could simply change the image info to suit your needs.

I would honestly stick with version 2.0.13.1 till the 3rd party modules are updated to be compatable to the 2.2 version of XOOPS.

A good news module by far would be AMS.

Wf Downloads is not compatable with 2.2 yet it still has a few bugs to be sorted.
