Just a shot in the dark here:

Afer you finished the installation did you remove the INSTALL folder from your root? And reset the permissions of the mainfile.php to 444 ?

If so, then you may want to uninstall and get rid of everything you did and then do a fresh install.

Do you have it set for activation by admin in the administration/system/preferences/extented profile preferences/general settings?

Also under administration/extended profiles/users/edit users the drop down menu may be empty there (not sure why), but when you click on the "LIST" link just below the Edit User drop down menu it should open a pop up window and you should at least see Your User name there, ie; Webmaster.

Hope this helps with your questions.

Try clearing your template_c directory (except for the index.html file). If you have access, I usually use ftp, then go into your template_c directory and delete everything but the index.html file. I think you can do this another way too. By going to administration/system/preferences/general settings and scroll down to the bottom and just click GO.

Then go to your administration/modules and to the right of system click on the update module icon.

Wow- not sure that will work at all.

If you go into your administration/system/templates you can find them there. Note: You can not edit the default template set. You have to clone the default template set and rename it. Then you can go into the templates for modules and make changes. Note: You will also have to go to administration/preferences/generl settings and set the template to the name of the template you just cloned so you can see the changes you make. Otherwise you will still be using the default template set which does not reflect your modifications/changes.

Installation of xDirectory module?

I have searched the site but found nothing on how to install the xdirectory module or instructions on its use.
Why do we do this to ourselves/fellow xoopsters?

I browsed 17 pages on the xdirectory topic. I could have missed it...

I downloaded the module and when I opened the compressed file there are many other compressed (gz) files. I looked in all the folders of the main xDirectory compressed file and couldn't find a readme.txt file, installation instructions etc.

I realize and understand the interactive community functionality of XOOPS open source/www.xoops.org but there just seems to be such a helter skelter of module submissions to the module repository, and elsewhere, etc.
If even only-there could be some review for the basics of common necessities before a module is allowed to be uploaded to the repository. I have lost track of how many modules I have went to review/research and discover there are no instructions for use, no installation instructions, or anything, also many of them are not in english either. I thought this was the english support site...

Enough of my babbling. Just needed to vent a little. 17 pages of a thread and no farther than I was when I first downloaded the module. Ouch-dat hurts!

Original intent of my post:

Can anyone help me to find instructions for installation of xDirectory, usage and or both? Or let me know if there is something better (with instructs and install of course) which I can use for a good city guide and business listings directory?

The errors should not be there!

I would restore your backup and return your site to what it was like before you tried to update to 2.2.4.

Then go here and follow the directions. Do like it says and you shouldn't have any problems.

Xoops 2.2.3 to 2.2.4 patch Upgrade Instructions.

Remember: Do just what it says. (you will not need to upload the install folder from the package since you already have 2.2.3)

I have no idea what someone meant about your footer... I musta missed something.

Have a great Day!

Try this:

Go to Administration/system/preferences/general settings

Open the general settings and make sure you have set this to YES. Update module template .html files from themes/your theme/templates directory?

Then scroll down and click on GO.

Go back to your home page and see if it worked. Refreshing the page may be necessary.

If that doesn't work then:

Go to Administration/system/modules

Find the System Module (usually the first one).
To the right you will see a couple of icons. Hover your curser over them untill you find the one that says it will Update the Module (or something like that).

Click on it and follow any instructs/prompts.

Then return to your Home Page. Refresh may be necessary.
