You can reassign downloads to a new category by editing their descriptions directly from the downloads area (select the icon next to 'description').
You can get the file id by clicking on the 'modify' link in a download description. There is probably a better way, but you probably don't need it though.
One of my colleagues did this for our site last week. I think you need to remove or comment them out from the relevant wf section template(s), have a look in admin/system/templates.
Good idea to clone a backup copy of your template set first, in case you mess it up
There isn't a lot of detailed documentation around on what modules actually do. Much of it is in the module readme files and some are more comprehensive then others.
There are quite a few modules out there that aren't in the downloads area, and some of them are quite good. If you are looking for something in particular a search can often turn up something useful - there are a few gems out there yet !
I thought I saw someone putting a list of modules together...I think it was being done by XOOPS Brasil or something ? My memory is a bit rusty.
So ... if I use Frontpage ... am I likely to really mess up Xoops?
Frontpage is not likely to mess up XOOPS per se. I like Dreamweaver better - but mainly because (I think !) it has a nicer user interface and better tools for site management and layout among other things. However, the guy I work with won't touch Dreamweaver - he is satisfied with Frontpage and doesn't want to learn anything else. Some of the (better) commercial web designers we have contact with refuse to use either - they write their code by hand in a text editor.
I think its just a case of what you're used to and comfortable with. But I still like Dreamweaver better
Yep, no problem. Just make a custom menu block with your topics listed in it. You can make new blocks through the form at the bottom of the admin/block page.
