I think Buddyfriends needs Friendslist to work, and that module is almost impossible to get to work either (it required someone hacking it, search the forums to find a working copy).

In the Admin goto Users:Groups. You can set access permissions from there. You may also want to read:

I prefer Linux myself. I have ran on Windows servers and it sometimes gives headaches as far as XOOPS is concerned. I know some of the modules I run under Linux do not work well under Windows.

A beautiful website with beautiful content. I take it you are using a modified version of news for the submissions?

I remember my first. In that day, we were unaware of html editors, I am not really sure there were any. Anyhow, we hand coded about 100 pages over a weekend. The result was not half bad looking, but a farcry from what we have today. That website still exists, albeit as a XOOPS site.

I think the problem with modules is we have 2.0.14 being considered the last stable release, with most modules (atleast it seems to me) having been written for 2.2X. I think many module writers may have given up when they saw 2.2X was no longer supported. I am hoping with the next version we will see more new modules. I would love to see Wordpress MU ported.

If you have anything from the existing forums you want to save, back up the database to your HD in PHPAdim (you only need to backup the forum tables). Then delete the tables in in PHPAdim, and try with a clean install. Once the module is installed, delete (drop) the newly created tables in PHPAdmin, and then import the backed up ones. That is what I would do anyhow.

It is definitely not a dummy question. There is a way to do it, but I have found when you do, the links always appear at the top, and do not look right. Easier (to me anyway) is to create a module using your static content. See this post to see how.

Are there any updates on this yet??? I am trying to be patient, but cannot wait to see the finished module.
