This is what I usually do:

1. Make necessary changes in the General Settings (default theme, default template, etc.). Submit.
2. Delete all files in templates_c.
3. Log out and log back in.

As long as I made sure that no. 1 was done and updated, I usually interchange 2 and 3. This method never fails me. I think if you're still logged in, the system calls for the 'original' theme choice, rather than the new one.

Hope this helps.

A similar question was just asked recently. I assume you have the forum as the front page of your site.

I think these links would help:

Another link here

Also, remember that you cannot separate center-center blocks. If you place them above or below the content, all of the center-center blocks will be there.

I take back what I said about the light setting. I verified with my partner--his username has a space in between 2 words--and he did not use any of the settings in XOOPS but changed it in the DB through phpmyadmin.

So I guess spaces aren't allowed by default.

also another question that i want to use space in my username what can i do?
merry christmas

For this, go to Admin Menu -> System Admin -> Preferences -> User Info Settings and Select the level of strictness for usernames. I'm not sure about the medium setting, but the light setting definitely allows spaces in the username.

Yup, XOOPS has a problem with Norton Personal Firewall (along with other sites ). Just do a search and look for the solution. I know it has something to do with HTTP referrers.

Good luck and enjoy XOOPS!

I think it is a firewall problem. Are you using a firewall to access your site? Try searching forums for 'firewall'.

I accessed your site with the password you posted. This was the message I encountered in the Admin Control Panel:

WARNINGDirectory /home/www/web32/html/clanspace/installexists on your server.
Please remove this directory for security reasons.

WARNINGFile /home/www/web32/html/clanspace/mainfile.php is writeable by the server.
Please change the permission of this file for security reasons.
in Unix (444), in Win32 (read-only)

I changed site name and installed the News module just to check the admin functions. Aside from the warning I posted above, your site seems to be working fine.

Check if you have a firewall. Go and change your password for security reasons.

Merry Christmas!

I don't think you should post your Admin password like that. There are a lot of well meaning people here, but this is a public forum. It is a security risk to your site.

You can try to send a PM to the person if you want to send something sensitive.

Check to see if your IE6 have 'unwanted' plugins. I've encountered HOTBARS, SearchBars, and any other bars, that mess up the way IE render one-word URL (localhost). They automatically do a search for that word in their own site. Even the 'alt+enter' method to enter .com is disabled with those bars and plug ins.

I believe this one is in the user.php in language/english/ (or language/<your_language>/) folder.

When trying to change words in XOOPS, including modules, search inside the language/ folders in the root directory, or in each module directory.
