If I can add something

If U r a new commer then Managing XOOPS is just like doing ur daily work. But for Mambo U have to have some basic knowledge. So u need to spend more time with Mambo.

As for me, I just look for the specific module that meet my requirement. Then after installing it, just spend 2 hours. And there U go. U know everthing that u need to work with it.

And i dont know PHP or HTML AT ALL

Which of these module fits best to your personal needs is a matter of installing them and trying out yourself.

That is the best way of doing things. But my problem is i have some limited time. In about two weeks my studies r going to start and i m trying to finish everything before.

Let me be a little more specific.
I want to have these things in categories.
1) Software Reviews 2) Hardware Reviews
3) Latest News 4) Other News

And then adding first three things as a menu item.
What i want is, an easy to use but powerfull module that could handle this.

If any one could give suggetion on basis of his/her experience.

And Thanks BlueNova. I didnt know it before. I will be having a close look on your site and it will help me for other testing stuff.

There are so many Great Great modules for XOOPS that one can be confused easily with their use (like me). Just like it took me 2 days do decide whether to go with "Mydownload" or with "WF-Download" and then just 2 hours to understand the working of "Wf-downlaod".

Now I m stuck up again. Consider me a person with limited knowledge. And help me out.

My Problem is

I want to have a section where i can have reviews. Reviews of software’s, hardware’s and things related to Information Technology.

Now Which Module I should use ????

I read few topics about "MyReviews" saying there is no further development on this module and some ppl also having little troubles using it. So i m confused to use it.
Can AMS from IT-HQ be used for this purpose ? ? OR
If its good to work with My Reviews ? OR
Any other module that u can suggest me ?

Making this thread alive again...

Ok... here is what I did. I installed the 4images patch from BBPixel and I did some testing.

BUT, it’s not exactly what I was looking for. First of all it lacks in the features that a standard 4images installation gives.
Secondly, at least to me, it’s a bit hard to manage as compared to the standard one.

SO for one more time, I m requesting from the great community for the possibilities of doing what I am trying to do. (And believe me; it will serve many other users too)

I have installed 4images as "4images.mydomian.com" (for wallpaper system) where as XOOPS is my standard portal system "mydomain.com"
So is it possible that if a user is logged in at Xoops, he don’t need to login at 4images again.

Presently 4images and XOOPS do not share database.

Hi Everyone.

I was not around 4 sometime. That’s why I wasn't able to reply here.

First of all,
While doing a new installation of XOOPS with my new Host I encounter "Blank Page error" I spend almost a day to work it out but nothing happen. Then when I was about to lose all of my hopes, I found an amazing amazing article by "Max-Realms" HERE
and it really saved my life
Thanks Max Thanks a lot.

Now coming back to the thread, soon after the installation I applied this small Frame Trick. Suggested by Bandit and guess what? It works absolutely with no error.

Thanks Bandit, before your post, I absolutely have no idea what Frames can do (apart from this i think i still dont )

And at the end thanks to Krobi for looking into the thread here.
Karobi, although it’s working great. But do I need to modify anything else?? I mean just 3 lines of code is everything that I need??

Up til Now I was busy with my test installation and I just became addicted to XOOPS ;)

What I m trying to do is .... I m going to install XOOPS to my main site at "mydomain.com/xoops" But I want that if user type "mydomain.com" in address bar thy get the main XOOPS page. But the address bar should display "mydomain.com" instead of "mydomain.com/xoops"

In short I just want to hide the actual location of the XOOPS install. And I guess its possible coz I saw this on a site
Power Dreams

Interestingly ... As long as u don’t use the right click and surf any page in the same window the Address bar always display "http://www.power-dreams.com"

I also want the same thing. Hopefully someone will help me here. I did try to search but was unable to get anything like this.

Ok..
I Went to the link, Search the site and found a patch that Adds 4images to XOOPS as an "Module".

According to the Readme file, i would have to make a new installation of 4images and the patch files adds 4images in the same databases of Xoops.

That seems quite different for what i m looking for. As i said i already have XOOPS and 4images. 4images is installed on my subdomain and serves as a wallpaper section.
So the patch file doesnt searves the purpose coz its for a new installation. (although i will give it a try)

Is there any other way that users can loging through XOOPS and 4images using one username and password ????
