There must be something wonky on my site then. I'm running the latest and greatest versions of just about all the pieces.

Possibly related is a problem I have with a handful of Admin functions that complete but return to a page of garbage. When I tied the same from a Windows machine it wanted to download admin.php instead of parsing it.

I think I should see what myAds does under a Win browser.

I'd really like to get this one working as it would be a good fit on my board I'm building for a car club. The members are always trying to buy/sell/trade their car goodies to each other.

Thanks for replying. I'd like to check out a running version on a non multi byte system and see how complete it is.

Will this work in English X? I tried grabbing it from the JP site but most admin functions give a messed up screen of output (variable names, SQL, junk). I hope I don't have something else wrong.... (yes I read the readme.txt)

This sounds like the kind of module I need for a non profit group to buy/sell and keep it out of the Forums.

You need to use DNS. Set the URL to something that resolves properly for outside users i.e.http://yoursite.net/xoops . Then for the inside you either need to have that same name resolve to the correct internal IP or make an entry in your "hosts" file:
192.100.110.2 yoursite.net

If you are using a dynamic IP for your internet then get a dynamic DNS service like dyndns.org and use a client that will keep it updated.

Cetain Admin functions return garbage screen after completing.

I haven't documented exactly where this happens but certain Admin functions will output garbage text on a white screen after Submiting a change. By accident I tried some admin in a Windows browser (accident I was on Windows, Linus forgive me ),,, and the same function tried to download the admin.php file. This should be a clue and I normally only see this if PHP isn't being parsed by Apache. Of course PHP is working though....

One config that will do this is when giving the final Submit after changing titles or weight in the Modules screen. The action works but I'm dumped to a garbage screen on *nix or offered the admin.php file on Windows. The file it returns is garbage text.

Possibly related is that my Language selection doesn't have any effect anymore. Other change from a week ago was an upgrade of MySQL from 3.x to the latest 4.x. Apache is latest 2.0x, PHP is 4.3.4 with globals off. Linux is custom kernel RH 8. Most things are working pretty good and I'm getting closer to letting it go live.

My guess is in mainfile.php . Put :8080 at the end of the XOOPS_URL variable.

No problem with caching here. Maybe you have a proxy server running or just dumb IE caching getting confused?

Did you change the name shown in the menu via Admin/Modules? When I do a search I get results showing the name I set it to. I see "SPDA News" instead of "News" for example.

Things can stop working with register_globals off because of a thing called "security". Best to make it work with globals off.

Myads isn't a core XOOPS module so you need to contact the author of the module. I don't know this module at all but others I've tried had a Forums area on their site for questions and bug fixes. Try there?

Not much fun without access....

Check if you have personal firewall issues and then real firewall issues. You should have access to your own machine :)

As for server access you have FTP I assume unless they installed the site for you.
