Is there anybody else that could help this my question?

I have asked on the before mentioned forum, but it seems that the phpbb side of the forums there is neglected and being treated like a rabid step-child.

IS there any sites that offer add-ons for Xoops, that I may go to or is there any add-ons for the forums that anybody know of?

Please somebody help a future XOOPS user out.

If you mean convert the entire application phpBB to a XOOPS module, then...

It depends on the complexity, and this would be big. If the mod has it's own user authentication system. If it uses a database that can be easily merged. the coding part is also big. You can use the builtin routines of XOOPS for things like forms, database access, etc - or you can use what's in phpBB.

there are just a lot of variables, so it's not as easy as yes or no.

I am talking about modifing a modification made for the standaole phpBB that I want to add to the XOOPS's phpBB module.

How hard or easy is it to modify it for it to work with the XOOPS's version of phpBB?

How easy is it to port a mod (modification) in XOOPS?

I have phpBB standalone, and want to use some of the modifcations on my XOOPS site.

Which version of XOOps is better?

Which one has more Add-ons/Mods?

Which is more secure and stable than the other?

Welcome to XOOPS, Hikaru.
There are a few forum modules available:https://xoops.org/modules/repository/viewcat.php?cid=20

This seems to be the most popular one:https://xoops.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=2851

You can create subforums with all of them as far as I know.

With the standalone phpbb you had to add a mod (modification) to have the ability to create subforums.

For example on my site I have it like this

Toyota (Catergory) >> Midsize (Catergory) >> Camry (Forum)

Is that the same with the forum mods avaibale?

What forums is this site running?

Regarding porting forum mods, do you mean that you already have a forum and you want to copy its posts to a XOOPS forum module?

What I mean by porting a mod is taking a mod (modification made for the standalone version of the module and making changes so that it works with XOOPS version, see my example above about Subforums.

Database usage will really depend on what type of site you're running, how many concurrent users...., but I can honestly tell you that database loads has never been a big problem for me on any of my sites.

Hopefully, you'll feel that XOOPS has what you're looking for.

I have several sites running variants of PHP-Nuke and they all put a huge strain on the database sever, sometimes even causing it to time out. And this is with only 50 users on one site.

I am thinking of switching over to XOOps after seeing another site using it.

I was wondering, what if any is the forum software installed?

Is there any mods for Sub-forums.

How easy is itto port forum mods from the stand alone version to the XOOPs?

How harsh is XOOPs on ones database?
