By default, none of the PHP installers (php 4 or 5) load the MySQL extension. You will have to download the pecl package for PHP 5 & install it & configure the proper extensions then you should have no problems getting XOOPS to run on an system running IIS.

My guess is that you are using MySql 4.1.x or greater. The newer versions of MySql store passwords with a more complex hashing algorithim.

Quote:
An issue that has come to light is the issue of enhanced security in MySQL 4.1.11 where plain text passwords have been scrapped in favour of their 48-bit MD5 hash value that is used for authentication to the MySQL server from the web browser. You can read about this more fully in this link titled 'Client does not support authentication protocol' :

whereray -

If your CPU is overheating, you've got other issues than IIS 6 / 2003 Server. We had a similar issue on our site and I tracked it dowm to corrupted Newbb indexes.

Install the MySQL Admin Tool that is available from MySQL & launch the app. Now open Task Manager & set it so that programs are listed by CPU Utilization. Now when things start to spike, go over to the MySQL Admin Tool & look at the Server Health & what queries are being executed. My guess is that MySQL is copying data into the temp tables and that is what is casuing the slowdown. If this is what is happening, stop the web site, and optimize & repair all your tables. Now restart IIS. If this doesn't help, post something in our IIS 6 or XOOPS Support forum & we'll give you some other tips on tracking down what is causing the performance issues on your site.

I am not an apache guy - wish I could give you more insight but I am sure that someone will be able to tell you what exact permissions need to be set

The IUSR account is created when you install IIS so adding this account & granting it rights will not help you. You need to make sure that you CHMOD mainfile.php & give the appropriate groups/users permissions.

Hello

The errors listed indicate the appropriate permissions have not been set. The IUSR account needs to have modify permissions to the cache, templates_c & uploads directories.

If you need more help, visit our site as we have detailed guides on making sure that PHP, MySQL, & XOOPS are installed properly.

Hope you don't think I was calling you out on this --- you guys have done a great job.

If I could add 1 item to the wish list is to cut down on the number of graphics --- loading a thread generates more than 100 http requests....

Thanks again & keep up the good work!

Archive feature in NewBB2

What exactly is the point of the Archive feature in NewBB2?

I understand that if you go into prune your forums that you have the option of storing old threads in an archive. When I go to /modules/newbb/archive.php all I get is a _MD_FORUM_ARCHIVE which points back to itself so what is the point of the archive? Is this table searched when using the search function of NewBB2?

Thanks

Wouldn't this allow anyone from his ISP to send mail with forged headers?

Thank you for the information on this --- I have setup records for all my mail domains and hope this catches on in the industry.
