Hey guys -

Sorry that the site was offline - we recently moved to a new Data Center & are dealing with growing pains.

As for your Blank pages issue, all you need to is make sure that the IUSR account has Modify permissions to the Cache, templates_c, & uploads directory.

That will resolve your blank pages issue.

Let me know if you need any additional help....

This is covered in the article on our site about installing XOOPS on systems running IIS 6.

Basically, the IUSR account needs "write" permissions on the following directories:

cache
templates_c
uploads

All other directories should be standard read/list permissions.

Good luck!

Hey everyone -

I need some help or some useful suggestions.

We allow anon users to submit articles (AMS), downloads (mydownloads), & weblinks (mylinks) on our site. Over the past several months, we have started to get slammed by submission bots submitting bogus sites / downloads in mass (about 250 / day). We really don't want to turn off anon users ability to submit as there are a lot of valid submissions from people who don't want to go through the registration process.

I know that there was a discussion of a captcha hack for CBB - has anyone looked at implementing this feature in other modules such as mydownloads, mylinks, AMS, and the News module just to name a few of the modules that are in wide use out there?

I would do it but I couldn't code my way out of a paper bag so I am looking for some assistance.

Thanks

Did you give the IUSR account Modify permissions to the Cache & Templates_C directory.

We have a pretty detailed guide on installing XOOPS on IIS Systems at my site:

The Spotlight Block feature does not work with XOOPS 2.2 --- other than that, everything works well.

I am confused as to how someone creating bogus accounts on your sites is considered an attack. Can you please be a little more specific in what this user is trying to do other than create an account.

Thanks

Xoops 2.21 can & does run fine with PHp 4.3.11 and above. Haven't tested anything before that though. The only issue that you will run into with using PHP 5 is that some of the modules out there will not work properly.

Katherine -

Do you have an SMTP service setup on your desktop or are you using the PHPMail option?

Are you running IIS or Apache? If you are running IIS, you will need to give the IUSR_MachineName (MachineName being your computers name) MODIFY permissions. You will need to disable Simple File Sharing in order to set NTFS permissions - Open Explorer, go to Tools Options & go to the view tab. Now scroll all the way down to the bottom & un check Simple File Sharing.
