Forgot to mention some features:
- gallery
- thumbnails
- upload documents
- new listing page
- captcha security on submit php and email forms
- listing id appears on each listing
- pop-up to ask for invoicing address
- limit number of images and docs to be uploaded by member from backend - also limit size and type of file

There is of course some more work to be done on it :)

Also, the test site is still quite rough - you need to sign on as a member and submit listings. To upgrade from free listing you need to wait after submission for me to approve your listing.

Have fun :)

Hi all,

Yes, I have been waiting too, but I do appreciate that developers are busy people, I am just thankful for this community and what it has to offer.

However, because I want a directory, I have not been idle, though I know zilch nothing about php. So I hired someone to work on mx-directory to do stuff that I wanted it to do. Work is still very much in progress, but you can view the modified version here

If anyone wants to collaborate with me to finish it off, please let me know - I don't want to make money out of it, but I have spent quite a bit on it and so I want some control over the direction in which is to be developed from where the version I have is now. Of course, the directory will be released to the community in due course on the condition that the users donate something to Xoops.

So let me know,
Cheers

Using JavaScript within custom block

Hi all,

I am having trouble getting javascript to work within custom blocks. I have imported some code I have on static html pages elsewhere and used it in a block, but all it shows is some text and it doesn't work at all (it's meant to generate two links to online TV programs). I am not a coder, so I have no idea why the thing doesn't work on Xoops, but does so on my other (static) website.

At this stage, all I want to know whether there are some things that would prevent javascript from working in a XOOPS block. I wonder if anyone is out there, in Xoopville, to help me with this querry?

Many thanks

This is some bad luck, no? Sorry can't help (because I'm new to php), but hope you have some luck in finding out what's causing your issue.

Hi Tripmon,

A great module, I was able to install it ok on a test site and did some mods to the submit.html (as it's a non-Alabama site )

One thing I can't seem to do right is to get the URL appear anywhere in the listing. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug?

Many thanks.

Re: Great,Reliable and cheap hosting service {fuitadnet}

Not according to my experience with this webhost over the past two months. Their support is absolutely atrocious, things are likely to go "bang!" (meaning you might lose your data, or email service, or such) anytime, and you're treated quite shabbily if you complain in the forum. If you want to sign up with these guys, I suggest you do a bit of forum reading on their site, and do a search at webhostingtalk.com beforehand. The owner has been trying to improve the service, but it's still not up to scratch. Some additional trivia: fuitadnet is now owned by empirehosting.

Informative comments. I don't actually pay that much attention to webpage design when I look at a host, but at what they have to offer; and the quality of support, as others have said, is very important. I have learned long ago that unusually cheap prices don't usually mean a good service, lost too much time with cheapies. I usually bookmark the host and return a couple of months later to check on them and their community fora to see if they improved or remained constant. I wish Strik Hosting the best of luck, also to you Trafix, though when I checked on your website it said that it has been suspended bu Strike Hosting ???
Peace, and may your host smile upon you :)

I have investigated it before using xoops, looks ok, but I couldn't make sense of a lot of it when trying to install. It seems to have a strong community behind it. Might be alright if you're geeky, and a good code fiddler -- which I am not. Overall, XOOPS is smaller and better to admin, UI would say. But, hey! What do I know :)
