Turn on debugging and advise any error messages.

I think the cloner is missing another variable: NewsStory

Figured out a fix:

Simply renamed all 7 or so occurances of DublinQuotes to DublinQuotes2 in my clones functions.php

Got close following the above instructions with News v 1.53.

When I loaded the XOOPS Module Admin Screen (to install my clone) I got the following:
====
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare dublinquotes() (previously declared in /var/www/html/modules/news/include/functions.php:258) in /var/www/html/modules/casestudy/include/functions.php on line 258
====
Line 258 reads: function DublinQuotes($text) {

Anybody have a solution?

Permission may not be as "granular" as you want for XCGal

But with version 1.1:

Module Config Options > Allow anonymous user to see pictures: y/n

and...

Manage User Groups > controls who can upload pictures.

Doesn't seem to be category by category controls. My mistake.

Have you looked at the other image gallery modules available?

While not integrated with XOOPs, have you tried Advanced Find and Replace - from www.abacre.com?

Alternatively, a site management tool like DreamWeaver or GoLive will have built in Find/Replace functions.

Is this the type of thing you are looking for?

RE RMSOFT: From their site (excuse the automatic translation):
Quote:
Module for the control and distribution of bulletins in your website. It permits subscriptions of users.

The module acquires functionality through the installation of plugins, the pulgins itself integrates with existing modules to generate content automatically.

For the moment counts on three plugins: News, Forums and Content Personalized.

Hadn't heard of this module before and have no direct experience with it. No time this week to explore it.

One difference I can see from the description is the use of plug-ins. SmartMail currently works with just about all XOOPS module's blocks - no plug in's required.

Hey, I figured it out!

It appears that MIME types are case sensitive.

I renamed the to-be-attached file to *.pdf from *.PDF and it worked.

And thanks to tvook and this thread I found this info:

Quote:
The news uploader is using class/uploader.php so mime types for the files uploaded needs to be defined (the defaults are jpg, png, gif, pdf zir, tar jtar (open file news/submit.php and look for (round line 326)

Should be able to add PDF (all caps) as an allowed MIME type.

Does this make sense?

Having some intermitent trouble with file attachments to articles on News 1.44.

Sometimes they attach to an article, sometimes they fail.

Using the insanity approach - trying the same attachment over and over expecting success - sometimes does work, but alas not today.

Intallation is:
Xoops 2.0.13.2 (an upgrade to 2.0.16 is on the to do list, just not this week....)
News 1.44

Not a file size issue, have max file size set to 5Mb (5048576)
Not a server disk allocation issue (170MB available)

Error message on failure to attach is:
Error while uploading the file
Errors Returned While Uploading
Unknown filetype rejected
MIME type not allowed: application/pdf
Thanks for your submission.

(At least we're polite...)

Attachment is just a plain ol' 81K PDF and we've been able to attach PDFs to other News articles.

Any ideas how to check/adjust New's allowed file types?

I have 1.82 as well. Just downloaded a fresh copy this week. admin.php was not translated.

From here.

Anyway, thanks for the English version.
