Video Tube Prepares For Version 1.7
For beta testing purposes we have decided to make small incremental releases beginning with v1.61 and continuing through v1.69. Each release will contain bug fixes and some of the new features intended for Video Tube v1.7. By trying out these releases you are helping us to ensure the next production release is bug free.

We are currently at version 1.61 which contains a couple bug fixes plus a really cool new Portable Video Preview feature.
The static video overlay used in the Search feature to preview a video prior to submitting has been replaced by a Portable Video Preview Overlay. You can define the overlay size, it's initial screen location, the window background color, border color and border size. The user can drag and drop the video preview to any desired location. It retains the last screen location and clicking another thumbnail while a preview is already playing simply closes the preview instead of causing errors like the original did.

There were some changes in the translations, you can see them in the file called lang.diff

De Norske Snedkere
De Norske Snedkere is the new site for my carpenting company. It's in Danish only, as it is meant to be used very locally...
I have redesigned the vista_k theme a bit. Normally i replace the logo image without blinking, but this time I actually liked the logo image that came with the theme, so I decided to use it... The vista_k theme is an excellent theme with an easy to understand Photoshop sliceing for the menu...
I have used very few modules as i don't need much on the site:
SmartFAQ has been used for a tips and trick module for home management...
I have used two instances of myAlbum and removed most of the ugly little icons that comes with the module.
For the 'vores ydelser' section I used a 'blank' module and made a block for easy online editing.
The contact_plus module is used for the contact form and I added some html to the template.
And of course the News module in case we have something new to tell...
A big thanks go to andersssk for translating the site...

Heads up: XOOPS is on Usenet!! :-v
I have some great news for xoops for all the team and people involved, we now have our own complete section in UseNet, if you are wondering what UseNet is you may have at one point seen something like google tunneling you into a group like alt.topics or sci.facility or even soc.something this isn't actually google it is UseNet. Back in the BBS days Usenet was still there. Before TCP/IP was around it use to run on Netbeui and Netbios with it domain lookup and so on running over Netbios and sydnicate with various tiers of services using something similar to a push data system.
You may remember something like fido net (fido7) and so on all BBS' this was all syndicated through UseNet. It is a great honor to be accepted as a project on some of the oldest and often picky infrastructure like UseNet, only the big company in there Omni global instantiations are available on UseNet (Newgroups) like Microsoft or Novell and so on.
If you have a suggestion and as well would like your Support Site on the xoops UseNet abstraction then please contact me I will have it added, remember this is a fantasic addition to their network, you don't find any other CMS or Portal system like Joomla or Drupal or any of the ASP one even mentioned in there. UseNet was the basis of old day forum systems, it is what forum and blogging systems have been modeled on.

UPDATE: EXM-based Admin Theme for XOOPS 2.3
One of the great changes in 2.3 is that we can have now individual Admin Themes, that you can select from the Administration Panel. It all started with the very innovative work done by ForMusS with his ThAdmin theme. This caused phppp to rewrite the Core for 2.3, so it could accomodate more of such Admin themes.
I was always a big fan of the great work done by BitC3R0 with his XOOPS EXM System, so I've decided to take advantage of the new architecture in 2.3 and to convert the Admin Theme for XOOPS 2.3.

To install, you just need to copy the content of the zip file to:
/modules/system/class/gui/exm
subdirectory.
And thanks to BitC3R0 for this very innovative contribution to XOOPS, and to phpp for making several changes to my conversion!!!

Month of July was another successful month for XOOPS - we see more and more modules and themes being released showing the creativity of the community, and more and more Websites around the world utilizing XOOPS.
- XOOPS 2.3 release is coming closer. Check out the latest Release Candidate. In the meantime, we would like to focus on Marketing campaign preparation for the XOOPS 2.3 Release via a Competition for XOOPS 2.3 Marketing Materials. Check out the idea for our new Video promo - help us in making it a great one!
- We continue with the XOOPS Innovation Award - for people who create something very unique and innovative for XOOPS. This time the award goes to Vinod Surendran R (psindia) for his Xoops DHTML Hack
- The "XOOPSer of the Month" is Herve Thouzard (hervet) from Instant Zero, for his "Birthday" module and for his endless support for XOOPS.
Summary
CVD Announces Video Tube v1.6 Release
Video Tube v1.6 has been released and is now available for download. The release has been tested with both XOOPS 2.0.16 and XOOPS 2.2.6. This release introduces categories for video management, play video blocks, enhanced search with two different result display formats and total results with results pagination. The embedded player now offers a colored border option. Several data items acquired from YouTube have been added to the display under the embedded player along with a Display More Info / Display Less Info combination button. A parameter has been added to each YouTube search query so search results no longer contain any videos in which embedding has been disabled by the author. The Video Help page has been updated to reflect the new appearance of the submission page. What's New page has been added that describes the new features found in this release.
This release covers approx 50% of the feature requests we have received. We wish to thank everyone for their feedback and we hope you find the software as enjoyable to use as we did in developing it. We are currently putting together the planned features for release v1.7 and the list can be viewed at http://www.customvirtualdesigns.com
