I know I can be a bit wet at times, but I had to tell everyone this, and it really is wet!

I was thinking....Isn't it great been an XOOPS member?

I'm not a member of anything anymore. I used to go to a gym, and I used to do martial arts. But I don't do anything like that anymore. I am married and have a family, but I just go to work, and socialise at the weekends like most people. Then, a few months back (whenever it was) I joined XOOPS to enhance my webmaster experiences.

Although its a virtual environment, whenever I return here (which is most days) I see many of the same names who are themselves people from all over the world helping fellow people achieve their aims. Although I've never actually met or spoke to any member I almost feel like I have a bunch of mates (friends to those unfamiliar with English slang). And even I can help some people from time to time, which a few months ago I could never do.

To top it off, I have what I consider to be a great website that's full of promise and is something that I can get my teeth into, and constantly aim to improve.

And its all thanks to XOOPS and the community. Fantastic. Long may it go on.

Ted

I think I'm going to cry now.

Yep, good community here. Something for everyone.

But you know, going back the gym and martial arts might actually be healthier than sitting around the computer and talking to faceless nerds. I hope XOOPS didn't cause this, I suspect that married thing is where it all changed.....

Good point, but no marriage nor XOOPS caused my decline in exercise! It was work I think - boo. Mind you, I get plenty of exercise walking my 3 crazy dogs, so that combined with work leaves little time for a 2 or 3 hour gym session!

They say that owners start to look like their dogs after a while, but Ted get a cat you have have taken this dog thing to far.
I agree walking three dogs beats the gym anyday, and sometimes it is nice to have the anonimity of the online world to socialise in and you don't have to hold your belly in..

Hi Ted,
just wanted to say I love your warm postings - you manage to bring a lot of yourself into them - sometimes I find working in front of a screen (or screem) impersonalising (lonely) and it does good to get a feeling that the people out there have their ups and downs and you know what too.
Keep up the good work!
Alan

So true, but not holding your belly in for the past 8 or so years can tend to catch up to you, as is the case with me at least. I'm still thin as a rail, but the gut is starting to stretch the t-shirt. Yup, I'm at an age where my health is becoming more important then my online status in the community, or social status outside the rhealm of computers. Bowflex is looking more attractive then woman right now!

Getting back on topic, the XOOPS community has propelled me in so many ways that it would be near impossible to list all the many good benefits that have come my way over the past 2 years or so since being here.

I definitely have to weigh in here. I am immensely grateful to this community. I have gotten my boss to agree that for every XOOPS website we set up for a customer we will contribute funds to the XOOPS project. I want to put my money where my mouth is (so to speak)!
I'm working on a small one now and I'll post it here when I've finished it. I hope I do you guys proud!

Xoops.org is #1.

Zcream - I know its gone just too far! I know they say a dog is a mans best friend, but I've taken it to the realms of disbelief! I don't even live on a farm - just a normal sub-urban home!

Alan A - thanks mate. Nice of you to say so. I'm not emotional by nature - quite a hardened character in fact. But not so in XOOPS - like you say, perhaps its the "anonimity of the online world" like Zcream said.

Stewdio - your postings number is massive! Blimey - you must have a masters degree in Xooping! Just noticed - u number 2 in the top posters!

Upsadaz - I think its great that you are able to contribute funds to the project. I have developed an XOOPS site at work too (but for my team not for clients), but unfortunately its a law enforcement department with strict (and small) budgets. We use freebies wherever we can, and I'm afraid XOOPS is no exception. That's not to say I haven't tried to get some money for the XOOPS team though - just not possible because its 'tax payers money' and all that.

Anyway - thanks for not embarresing me too much guys - once I posted it I thought "Mmmm, maybe a bit to wet - consider getting webamster to delete!!
"

Later guys

Ted
