I can't think of any modules that do this, but to be sure...

What would/should the visitor be able to do through a module like this?

I wonder if one of the Blog modules would serve this purpose. While not truly allowing a person to make a complete web page, I think it does give each user the ability to have their own blog content. What do you think Ackbarr?

Strangely enough a friend of mine is looking for the same thing just now.

He wants to advertise holiday apartments for friends abroad etc

Say in Spain, you have a page called "Majorca"

In that page you have "members" links to sub pages i.e.

Heading: Majorca

Link to Member 1's page

Link to Member 2's page

etc

These members can edit and upload there own pages and images.

The myads module is no good for this, as it is limited, and you can only add one image as opposed to having pictures of rooms and scenery etc.

I understand rumours exist about wfsections allowing users to edit there own material in the next release, but I think there is no current way this can be done in Xoops. XOOPS is a CMS after all, perhaps a more flexible powerful ads module would do the job with something like Spaw included?

The blog module is good, but difficult to adapt to this kind of structure.

ATM I think that the weblog module is the closest we have to a user homepage. However the original poster's wording suggested that the user had control of the design of their page, which I don't see working well with this module.

I guess what I was looking for is if this idea is modeled off of an existing site or web development application, and if so which one?

Very helpful guys. This is what I want I want to allow users to use XOOPS to add a image of themselves and a little write up about who they are. And It would be great if there were fields to enter their name, age, and interests, like a profile.

I will try your suggestions though.

ackbar, i've been looking for something similar to what has been requested

i run a counter-strike map site (currently still php-nuke), and it has been suggested by several of the mappers that i host webpages for them, allowing them to edit the pages, add File Downloads, description images, etc etc

(the point of the hosted pages would be for the mappers to pimp their current or upcoming map releases)

what would be handy is a version of WFSections that allows users to manage their own pages, with the ability to upload files/images (and have the files automatically added to the Downloads module? that'd be nice), so that the page is viewed like a normal XOOPS section page

i reckon i'll prolly just have to wait for the next WFSections release to see if it covers what i need
