The trick is to delete this file to clear the badIP Cache..

In your xoops_lib folder the following file will appear with a slighly different hash at the end of the file

Delete this file and you will have access again!!

It is the same for the lastest version?
Protector has banned my admin (maybe the nickname?) and IP is not in BAD LIST. Also removing only the files from FTP he is still banned.
So I have to go in database?

Normally the banned IP should be in:
/xoops_lib/modules/protector/configs/badipsdb

This can be tricky if you do not delete the entire string associated with that IP (it is not just and IP but a string of different variables). Hopefully you have other IPs already banned you can look at to identify the entire string structure between delimiters.

That whole string and the delimiter to its right needs to go away, not just the IP address.

This happened to me today.
The last time it happened this solution worked but this time (with the newest version of xoops) I do not have this folder to delete or the file mentioned below.

To clarify: Both Webmasters are locked out of our site; from every IP.
The protector message is:
This account is disabled for your IP by Protector.
Clear cookie if you want to access this site as a guest.


How do we unblock the webmasters?

This happened while I was un-banning another IP in protector.
All registered users and guests are allowed acces to the site; its the 2 Webmasters that are banned from seeing the site.

That's impossible. The folder has to be there:
/xoops_lib/modules/protector/configs

Of course, if you have renamed the

/xoops_lib

to something different, then you have to look there...

And of course, the file will be name differently, as protector is creating a random name for this file.

OK, I looked into this issue on his server and what happened is that he placed an IP in the Protector's whitelist for Webmasters:

By doing it, he basically blocked all Webmasters who tried to login from other IP than the one he entered, incl. himself, if he tried to login from a different PC, or if his IP was dynamic and has changed.

To solve the issue, you have to go to the Protector's /configs directory:

/xoops_lib/modules/protector/configs/

and look for a file starting with "group1ips":

In case, there are more of them, look for the one with the latest date, as it is the current one.

Normally, as a default, there should be only this entry inside:

a:0:{}


but in his case we had this IP that he entered before:

a:1:{i:0;s:12:"xx.xx.xxxx.xxx";}


After replacing it to the default, every Webmaster was able to log in normally.

So if you would like to add IP of Webmasters to the white list, make sure that you enter the info of ALL Webmasters, and that these IPs won't change.
