Re: SMTP configurations for Gmail

I doubt if SSL is supported.
The port is to be added after the host with a colon
eg host:port

Re: Mxdirectory with xlanguage

Probably the titles are truncated.
Enlarge these in the preferences to the maximum.

Re: AMS 3.00 & mod-rewrite

On which page is this read more link present?
In which does it differ from the link under the title of the article (see HTML source)?

Re: Looking for a contact form where i could choose the recipient ("To")

In the Contact module, there is a department field, where you can specify names with associated email addresses.
eg dept1,email1|dept2,email2|dept3,email3 etc.

Re: Basic question about main menu

The links in the mainmenu are added automaticaly by the modules.
If you want extra links in there, you have to edit the template of it and insert the links before or after the foreach.

Did you check out the txt files of the mymenus module?

Did you already checkout the documentation tab at the top right?

Re: CSS Problem

Check the error console of your browser for errors as eg in IE
line 166 object required
line 259 swfobject is undefined
In FF some style files are included but not found at the specified location, eg pages.css
Check your Apache log for more missing or wrongly specified files.
Run your html page source, and individual css files with the W3C validator.

Re: making 2 types of profiles

With this hack, you can make them register to an additional user group (registered + model or registered + photographer).
Afterwards when they edit their profile, other custom data fields can be presented according to the user group (field permissions in module profile).
With the permission system of XOOPS, you can reserve parts of the site for only one or both groups.

Re: Best version for Apache, Mysql and PHP

Which XOOPS version are you trying to install?
The versions look good.
Did you set the required permissions for the special directories and files?
Do the file check (see release notes) to verify all files are present.
If your server has problems with PHP files outside the document root, leave xoops_lib and xoops_cache inside the document root during installation.
After installation try to move or rename them (adapt mainfile.php accordingly).

Re: Registration

Standard, this is not possible. You will have to hack the login procedure and the register procedure (see modules/profile/ and some /class/ files) to depend on the uid and not on the name.
Not the easiest hack.

Re: Sig not showing

Because the Smarty var is not in your template?
Or disabled by CSS?
Try the default theme.
