Check the file list of the archive of other translations eg Bresil.

Don't get me wrong ghia, that's what I've been doing. But it just struck me as something that should be "documented" somewhere for easy reference and consistence, since there is always the odd chance the translation I download has forgotten a file or something like that.

Anyway, I realize that this is of course not top priority among the thousands of other things that needs to be done in the XOOPS community.

A bit wrong

The complete list of all files which should be translated (all in UTF-8 without BOM - Byte of Mark) are packed and redistributed in separated archive, unofficial.

Recommended Editor for translating XOOPS, 3rd party libraries/addons used by XOOPS, themes and some sub-classes like Oxygen administration theme engine have to be translated by NotePad-Plus.
http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net

The package XOOPS 2.4.0 RC Translators Edition can be obtained from my site.

The package contain all language files for XOOPS itself, if u plan to make a full translation, eg. installation, upgrade, editors, themes etc. If u plan to make simple translation (like mine), u have to translate the following in UTF-8 without Byte of Mark, no full UTF-8 conversion, NotePad Plus have both options from the drop-down menu Format.

\Language\English\*.*
\modules\module-name\language\English\*.*
\modules\system\class\gui\oxygen\language\english\*.*
\modules\system\class\gui\exm\language\english\*.*
\themes\zetagenesis\language\English\*.*

The folders above covers the core of XOOPS, administration and system modules.

Editors such as FCK and tinyMCE dont have up to date language files, u should compare your language files to the English within them. Koivi isnt translated by many like FCK.

PHPMailer isnt translated too, u should do that no matter is it full translation or partial.

JSCalc2 should be translated too, no matter what is your choice - partial or full.

ps. I'll try to add SF.NET and dev.xoops.org mirrors when I get back home after my wedding. 2-3 days max.

ps2. added JSCalc2/src/language folder.

Looking at these files (and also reflecting older versions), is there a specific purpose behind not making certain images, e.g. the ones related to PM's, language dependent (reply button etc), or is it just that it has never been requested by anyone and therefore it has never been deemed as important enough to do?

Also, I find it slightly ironic that DCrussader is hosting XOOPS files on Joomla

Re: XOOPS 2.4.x Translations

mmm, there is no converter Joomla to XOOPS :) (the site is on J 1.5, bcz there is no such download management extension for XOOPS, like jDownloads)

Images are up to u, but in my language PM looks like LS (in Cyrillic), reply have another word too, but bcz my translation is only partial and only used by me :) - I don't plan to take from the time of my designer to make new images for that buttons :)

Everyone rows with the paddles they have.

What makes jDownloads so exceptional in comparison to the XOOPS download modules?

BTW: BOM is Byte-Order Mark

Re: XOOPS 2.4.x Translations

(Don't accept it as flame, or Joomla propaganda) :) Better interface, the devs listen to the community :) (dont know much about current devs <-> community, after the skalpa replacement) Layouts for each part of the component (very easy indeed), with tags, such as.

Mirrors, screenshots (awful part of current wf-download - try to add 3 XOOPS themes with 1 screen (u can't add more then 1 shot) per theme... u will want to kill first author of the module after 2nd attempt :) Better protection from leechers, better file handler - u can upload 100,000 files via FTP, to refresh jDownloads, and then to add and write some description with ease or simply select all and publish :) from latest beta 1 to 10 columns for the files and folders and XOOPS atm only have few modules which dont have analogues for Joomla :) 1. CBB 3.08 and it's alternative, Kunena sux 2. WebLinks 1.9x - Joomla miss such extension 3. WebPhoto (by Happy Linux) - mmmm, probably Phoca Gallery 4. Herve News 1.5 or was 1.4 For my needs only CBB was missing, and that's why my forums are external - mybb based. And in the time I've created cmsbg.info, XOOPS 2.3 wasnt even stable (Also XOOPS themes are awful, but don't want to make this thread full with spam:) ) Oh and translation is easier

Offtopic: For the time I can translate 2 extensions like jDownloads with 90k language files, I cant translate 1 XOOPS module (50k) bcz of (wont repeat myself) messy language files full of outdated strings, repeating strings in modinfo.php and admin.php and this 'define' :) jDownloads in RC will have and rating per folder/file, multiple file upload and 3rd party integration with Social extensions like CB and JomSocial
