How to use X-Re-aggregator 2.14

In this example I will do the following:

Show you a bit around the admin panel and how to use it. For this example I will be using the RSS feeds from NEWBB (CBB 3.08) which alot of you have but the same rule applies for all RSS/RDF feeds with this example.

The following RSS Feeds are used:

General XOOPS.org Forums - Forum Category
URL: https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/index.php?cat=4
Feed: https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/rss.php?c=4

XOOPS Community Support forums - Forum Category
URL: https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/index.php?cat=7
FEED: https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/rss.php?c=7

XOOPS Modules Support forums - Forum Category
URL: https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/index.php?cat=2
FEED: https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/rss.php?c=2

XOOPS Module Development - Forum Only
URL: https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewforum.php?forum=65
FEED: https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/rss.php?f=65

Module Testing Area - Forum Only
URL: https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewforum.php?forum=66
FEED: https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/rss.php?f=66

Coding and Security Support - Forum Only
https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewforum.php?forum=67
https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/rss.php?f=67

Code Sharing and Library - Forum Only
URL: https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewforum.php?forum=68
FEED: https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/rss.php?f=68

Language and Document Translation - Forum Only
URL: https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewforum.php?forum=69
FEED: https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/rss.php?f=69

With this example I will be building a RSS Mashable for XOOPS Module Forums.. This is good if for example you wanted to add the mashable RSS to twitter or any other RSS Importing software. A Mashable is a collaboration of the selected feeds all in one feed.

Ok Step one the X-Reaggregator Admin:

After installation your x-reaggregator installation should looks like this:

Very simple, you can delete or hide the two links in there by turning of the display options or just plain deleteing it..

Firstly I am going to add in General XOOPS.org Forums - Just before i press the submit button the fields look like so, this is for streaming it and displaying full details and images in the main feed browser.

As you can see I have the title I want it to appear as (For large installation you may want to be more specific by for example puting the word category in this sort as it is an overall category feed I am adding. This is with Site name this is for the link title.

Now to put in URL, this is the items URL, not the RSS Feeds url this is where you want people to go if they click on a redirected link to the source of the RSS..

Now you have to put in the URL of the RSS or RDF feed. Next order, RSS Encoding, how long you want to cache for (for a busy RSS you should select 1 hour).. This is how often your xreaggregator retrieves the RSS file.

If you want it browsable in the main window, if you want to display images and if you want full view.. The block settings are for block manipulation (this will be extended in later versions)..

So now after enter the first couple of feeds in my Re-aggregator Configuration looks like this:

This is the small amount of RSS I have add there are alot more options for example just at xoops.org alone, for example every category and every forum has it own RSS Feed available for Mashing into Selected Feeds for a defined purpose.

Now to make the mash up. In this mash up I want all XOOPS module related data to come on the feed my configuration before saving looks like this:

Ok so I have given the mash the name of 'XOOPS Module Mash' this is for all module data. I have selected the RSS Feeds I want to take collaborated (that is top layer posts from) and if I want it to display (random not yet implemented)..

And that is how you create a mashup.. This means on your front page you will have a list of feeds and below that you will have the mashables for your twitter or other RSS importing like facebook.
