why isnt XOOPS developing a forum? or the cbb?

will we always have to search for forums as at present cbb is not working correctly with 2.3.3 and other forum modules are very simple.

Do you think forum is not important?

If you mean XOOPS as in the XOOPS core team, then the answer is simple, it is not our job to develop modules like a forum or maintain them. Modules in reality should be developed, maintained and updated by module developers. If we were to do this then we would in reality have no time for the core.

If my memory serves me correctly, CBB is still being maintained and updated. If you search through these forums, you will find the answers you need on this subject.

CBB 4.0 alpha has been around for a couple of years hasn't it?

That doesn't seem like active development lol.

We gained a great core developer in DJ but lost a damn good module developer at the same time, is how I see it.

I asked a while ago about CBB 4.0 Ghia said be patient.........

So, I am being patient ;o)

The XOOPS Website is running 2.3.3 and CBB 3.08, and we don't experience any problems.
As you can imagine, this website is getting a lot of user traffic, so the Forums are working under stress conditions, and everything is good, so I don't understand your above statement.

Could you tell us more about your problems?

As other users already said - CBB 4.0 RC is out there, but we need to understand that all of these programs are developed by volunteers in their spare time. Sometimes work and family take the priority and then we have less time for development.

That's why it is so important that all of us will try to help XOOPS in any capacity that we can.

Two other forum modules have been announced in the last two months:

Newbbex from InstantZero
X-Forum 4.10 from Wishcraft

You can definitely ignore the first one.

I am not sure about the second one, but in general Notices are only FYI, so I don't think that it should have any impact on you. Just try to work with it, and see if you get any new errors.

I'm using the latest version of XOOPS on a wamp localhost.

CBB is NOT in debug mode but every time i try to view a forum I get the following across the to of the screen, and it makes all the fonts on the screen bigger

Quote:

Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in G:\wamp\www\htdocs\modules\newbb\viewforum.php on line 122

Any ideas?

TIA!
