HELP! - Strange Characters in my XOOPS

I have strange characters in one of my XOOPS!... i've installed two servers ... and put in them a copy of the same copy of XOOPS 2.0.14... but in one of them a lot of strange characters appears... WHAT CAN I DO!!!!???? is something in the server??? HELP!... and thanks!

what kind of strange characters appear? have you checked if it's a charset encoding problem?

thats the problem... i dont know if can exist... any apache configuration ... or anything else... because the files are the same... both in UTF8 , non in ISO... some nows something??? HELP!!!! I NEED SOMEBODY!!! JUST ANYBODY!!! ... like a beattle

the best way would be a link... but the site is in an intranet of the university where i study/work ... so is imposible... the characters are like question marks into a rhombus .... very nice ... ... but makes me get nervous ... it apears instead of spanish characters ... as ... ñ ó í ú é á ... any idea...???

I feel in the middle of no where

you may have an "intranet", a special something, whatever.

I get no where with your details. I can't help you.. unless

you TYPE or COPY the errors "problemas" you have and I, or someone else, can identify the solution.

It looks like Snow was right, and it is a character encoding problem. In the language/spanish/common.php file, at the top, there should be an encoding string that lets you set the encoding. I don't have a lot of experience with this, but look there to see if everything is set ok.

It could also be the encoding of your database...

Post screenshots here, so we can have a look?

thanks... the problem has gone... one of the servers administrators had done something magic... really i dont know what... but now everything works now... thanks

I fixed this problem by opening the language/english/global.php

I commented out the UTF-8 charset and added the ISO-8859-1 and that got rid of the odd characters.

I've got some weird characters too. When access the website it displays ok, however, using phpMyAdmin to look at the database it displays unread characters, for example:

Được người bạn mách cho má»™t trang web ...


in phpMyAdmin I am using the following setting:

MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)
MySQL connection collation: utf8_general_ci OR utf8_unicode_ci
