Hello everyone..

well just wondering why so many people visit the Themes section here on xoops.org but barely write some comments or send feedback about themes.

for example in my sitehttp://templates.xdigitalnet.com i have around 7 Themes, some free , some not.. but no one dont even send feedback about what they want in a theme or participate in our forum ( even that no registration is requiered to write in the forum)

thats one of the reason for example i havent do anymore themes, i dont even know if people like it!! , if my themes suck or soemthing.

since i started with Free Themes i never got a single donation (not that i am asking )or a E-mail saying Thank you am using your theme on my site. zero feedback.. so am still wondering is people really interested in XOOPS themes?? , or they stick with old fashion themes like 2 colors here and there..

what do u think people??

Good question actually. Personally I have found it hard to even find 2.2+ themes. I am working on a site for my work so everything I do has to be at no cost to me if possible. I know my work sure as heck wont pay for it. I have found a few good themes. Red and black or grey are what I use on my site since those go well with the company logos etc. I'm currently using a slightly modified version of geometric_red. I took a look at what you have to offer and they look nice, real professional.

Why people don't leave comments I am not to sure. If I like something (or don't) I'll say something. Feedback is always a good thing. One indicator that may help when people don't leave feedback may be the amount of downloads you get on each theme whether free or not. Yeah they may just download it and not use it but at least they were currious enough to download it to begin with. If they did in deed pay for it that may be an indication that they are or will use it in there site.

Hi
Your themes are nice and colourful and as such don't 'suck' at all! (but bright colours are not appropriate to my page)

I am a total newbie with themes so I haven't learned a lot about them - but your post here is sure to attract some more views and hopefully some more interest. I am not in a position to be able to support you financially and since I know didly squat about themes it is one area i can't even help out with in any way...but you never know ...one day i just might have the money to part out.

One thing i do notice when i look for themes is that there is not a lot around in 'my colours' - I like things softer, more muted and dare I say it more feminine...but I am female...and as an artist I dream of a theme featuring 'art' icons, buttons, and graphics but it is way down the priority list for me right now. I am stuck with free graphics till I can learn to do more. Your 'nature' theme is very bright...why not try a similar idea with less bright colours? It might get some interest!

Good luck!

IMHO, your work is very nice. You need to still increase your numbers of available themes, this will in time increase your chances of selling your services. Takes quite a bit of time though.

And of course continue with variations for different markets.

I am always on the lookout for devs to help me in creating themes for my customers. As I build solely with xoops, themes are important. Showcasing your work is the best way to build a following.

Keep it up. Like I said, it is a slow process, but if you stop, then you are certain of not getting any results.

zeroram,

I understand where you're comming from. It is frustrating when you put the work into a design, pay for the hosting to distribute the design, and then get little or no feedback on it.

My best suggestion is to keep plugging away at it. There is a lot to be said for consistancy. As you release more and more quality designs, you will build a reputation for yourself.

BTW...Your work is excellent! Keep up the great work.

Best Regards,

JM

Your themes are all beautifully designed. I think the problem I had is that the one or two I wanted to use don't have center left and center right columns.

I had not heard of your site before I read this and so I went and had a look at your themes and have added to my favourites for future theme considerations.

I echo what others have already said. You've done a great job of creating some very professional looking themes suitable for many Xoopers - but it just depends on exactly what the Xooper wants.

Personally, I like the more suitable colours that fade into each other - 'dreamy' if you like. I also like natural pastel shades and things like that. Most people don't want too bright nor do they want too dull. So by making themes aimed at the middle ground you're more likely to get the heaviest user base.

Re feedback. I try to comment on things even if it's just to say "Well done". I too have just got into the world of development but my project (Xoops Importer) is kind of a specialist tool for a specific purpose so I know it's not going to get used much. That said, I would have hoped for a bit more feedback even if it's to say my PHP coding sucks! Looking at your themes, my view is that they seem quite 'intense' for my sites - but if I were building a site that required that look I'd certainly use them.

Are you advertising your new themes here at XOOPS or just quietly releasing them?

Ted

I just looked at your site and themes. You do very nice work indeed! They dont fit the style of sites I have, but they are very nice.

I have Bookmarked your site if the need arises for a site that will fit one of your fine themes.
