I think this started happening sometime earlier yesterday evening on this site.

When I go to a forum message or the forum front in general it is loading much slower. The page seems to load, but it isn't functioning, then I can see (bottom left) where other items begin downloading (around 200+ items). Doesn't matter how many posts or pages of posts are in the particulr thread (1 or 50). The items (whatever they are)load counting down to 0 then a pause and finally I can use the page.

Maybe it is just me but I haven't ever noticed this before yesterday evening.

I notice it all the time - and if there are lots of responses on one page it takse a bit longer than when there are just one or two posts. Could be an IE thing?? I haven't got firefox on at the moment. How about you?
I don't mind it much except when i am doing a search to help someone out...xoopsers are not vey good with their subject lines on posts so there's a lot of trial and error to find a post that might help someone.
So...you are not alone!

Same here. Sometimes the page load is painfully slow - even when there aren't a lot of people online. It'd be interesting to have a pageload timer set up, but it might make the pages even slower.

Next time you see this, or if it is a lot, just do a trace route from your location to xoops.org

My bet is, it's not the XOOPS server - as this doesn't happen to me as you explain. However, when you see the items counting down in the browser, it is usually a congested line.

How does it prove that you're not going cuckoo?

You got a good point. I think I'll have another and go on over to the cook out.

Thanks for all your help.

I've noticed this with all NewBB2 installs, I think from the first release of CBB this problem disappeared.

I get around 177 items downloading showing up in the lower left hand corner as I load any viewtopic.php page however, the content seems to be all there while this is happening so I don't get what its downloading. Maybe its got something to do with the ad rotator up top??? I have noticed that it sometimes doesn't completely load up correctly all the time here at the XOOPS site ..

Nobody every really clicks those do they ???

FYI I'm beta testing IE 7 but can check out with Firefox via my free Ubuntu browser application being given away at VMware... XOOPS should put up a VM app .. could win 100K too :) not to mention make it easier for prototyping and development. Man sleep deprevation has a way of making you go OT ..

Nope, it's NewBB2, I've seen it even on very small sites.

In IE you'll see all the bits and bobs loading, but in FF you won't, but they both load all those objects when opening a forum topic.
