Hi,

I have been using FlashFXP for the longest time and I am noticing lately that I have troubles from time to time caused by FlashFXP not overwriting the files as instructed.
I have checked the settings time and time again still no luck till I erase the affected files and reupload them.

What freeware FTP client would you recommend?

SmartFTP
AceFTP (although only shareware, I think)
FileZilla (can be somewhat slow with many files)

i use a program called ftpsurfer from http://www.whispertech.com/surfer/

it's like windows explorer, click & drag, autodetect/manual setup of server type.. REST, STOR etc, + many other features, all in all it's the easiest ftp program i've used. allows to define which files are transferred as binary or ascii etc.. but you shouldn't need to change it from default..

SmartFTP caused me problems diconnecting all the itme when uploading large numbers of files.

AceFTPFreeware and FileZilla are both excellent in my book.

Filezilla is nice. You can speed it up by increasing the number of connections in edit/settings/file transfer.
