there have been many topics covering this if i remember correctly..

you could try searching for "Blank page after install" (without the quotes) and it will throw up many topics that discuss your problems.

i've never encountered this error myself, on any server i have installed XOOPS on.. and i haven't done anything different to what it says in the installation docs..

is that the Xampp icon i see in ur taskbar?

if it's the latest version, it should be ok as thats what i use on my home server..

check the permissions tho as windows has an annoying ability of keep changing the file/folder attributes back to read only.. other than that i can't think of anything else that hasn't already been said..

Have you managed to turn php debug on yet? If so, do you get any error messages?

Here's a link to a FAQ which should help you to turn php debug on if you're having trouble doing that.

I got the solution now as belows:
please set up the attribute of the three directories separately under win system to make them writable step by step , otherwise the security attribute is not changed as you want ,
I have sovled this problem according to what I wrote above
good luck

I made a test again, and am sorry to say that the solution above is not the key,
the key is up to the setup for my sql server
if the default charset for sql server is latin1, then everything works well
if the default charset is utf- 8 ,then dead links come

I do not know why XOOPS can not support utf8 char set. :(

was XOOPS installed using the utf8 char set, or installed using the latin1 then switched?

If it works using latin1, switch it to that character set, login, go to administration, System -> Preferences -> General Settings. Change the Debugging Mode to MySQL Debugging and update your settings.

Now change your sql character set to utf-8 and re-access your homepage. A popup window should appear detailing every query that is run on your page. If there were any errors, they are displayed also. Can you please post what queries fail, and what errors you receive?
