Sorry Rod, no. I downloaded Subscription (subscription-0.95-3.tar.gz) and was all ready to give it a go--100% convinced that this was the solution I needed. But, as things turned out, my wife decided to have a donation-drive (a-la Wikipedia style) and it has been our saving grace.

As far as account expiry goes, I think the Subscription module would likely meet our needs. Give it 12 months and we'll hit the users with that if the next "drive" doesn't go as well as this one.

I should add: the download probably works fine. But I'm a bit perturbed from installing any module whose creator doesn't update the links. It doesn't instil a lot of... confidence. :)

SUBSCRIPTION! Ah-ha! That's the word I was needing. I'll check out the product from Third Eye Software (the other one pointed to a broken link) and see how it goes. Thank you very much!

Hi All,

It's been a long time since I've posted here. Actually it's been a long time between VISITS. The place looks terrific!

Anyway, my dilemma: My wife runs a small community site and wants to temporarily upgrade certain members after they have provided a donation. However, I want to create a group that will automatically demote these "paid" members (to a lesser status) after a pre-set period of time.

I don't want any sort of payment gateway software or expensive commercial third party add-on. The community is too small to warrant this. My wife is easily able to keep up with manually upgrading accounts as she receives a donation but we want them to downgrade automatically.

Is it possible?

Thanks for reading. Any advice would be appreciated!

Sorry to haul this old thread out of the mire, but... :)

Is there a way to activate Notifications options for the PM module in XOOPS 2.3.3? I also have some users who would like to be sent emails when they are PM'd.

(Naturally, I'd prefer it is they just kept coming back to the website to check for themselves--but this is what they're asking for... )

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,

I've just uploaded all of the 2.3.3b files to upgrade from 2.3.2 - it seemed to work fine and the /install.php reported that no upgrade was necessary (I assume this was only for versions that needed database changes anyway).

A few hours later I went into the Administration Menu and updated the System module (as recommended by the upgrade README). Then I immediately got a blank page and I haven't been able to access the Administration Menu again.

I've turned on debugging and get NO errors. The last line of HTML/PHP source code that appears is the CSS path. I've tried everything recommended in the XOOPS FAQ including: deleting cache and re-uploading files.

Thanks in advance.

I've just had this same Fatal Error problem with header.php (line 35) on one of our sites after re-locating it.

First thing I did was come here and search like mad to find a solution. Nothing I found helped. Then after I stopped crying I sat down to clear my head. ...

Of course, it was a user error. When I had REM'd out the Protector stuff in mainfile.php I had also accidentally REM'd out the lines IN BETWEEN (Protector users will know what I am talking about here). A closer inspection of mainfile.php also revealed a path error with protector too (that would have caused errors later).

So ALWAYS double check your mainfile.php for errors again and again. If you still have problems then try re-creating a new mainfile.php file from the mainfile.dist.php that you will also find in your web root (this FORCES you to THINK about every entry).

Hope this helps someone else one day who is searching like mad.

PS. Another really stoOpid mistake that took me ages to work out: I also forgot to add the MySQL user to the MySQL database. But that's another story.

Most of the above posts date back to 2005. Are ix still a good web host for xoopsers?
