Seems to me that more people are looking forward to using SMF than xoops. Being a XOOPS loyal user it is sad to see that so many people are interested in SMF and that Modders and all are too busy making releases to a still unstable 2.2.2 release.

I wonder if some of us should gather in SMF to ask them instead to help us make a XOOPS bridge, their community in such little time has surpassed the overall users that XOOPS seems to have. Are we looking at the first Forum to become a full Portal system? Mambo seems to be working towards some synergy with them, it is a shame that XOOPS is not taking an active step to it.

the calendar feature in the last SMF release is by far better than any calendar mod that I have seen for xoops. :( I would love to see XOOPS to wake up and try to make something users are crying for instead of something that they insist will be good. I, for one, am not looking forward to their 2.2.2 release, have tried it and it seems like a Mambo wanna-be, it's lost the XOOPS essence totally.

any news on SMF and XOOPS would be appreciated.

I haven't been able to even get this module running. I have followed the Readme, have edited the config.php inside teamspeak's admin folder, I have tried adding the info to my teamspeak server (this is not in the server I have xoops) but I still get a "not able to connect to database" or some kind of error like that both when I click in Teamspeak admin module, and when I click it outside.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Sergio

I agree a list is seriously needed :( I've tried 2.2 in a couple of sites, but with the problem in upgrading the modules and all, I've decided to stick with 2.0.13 for the time being and it's sad because I see a lot of stuff improved in 2.2, but without the modules and good features (Where is the forum, for instance) it just looks like a Mambo wannabe :( And our XOOPS is 10,000 times better than mambo.

Yes let's keep it going in the right direction. I've suddenly seen a change in Mith which is always welcome and shows his wisdom. Kudos and my hat's off to you Mith... otherwise you're dedicating too much time to make posts about "how you're not going to waste your time" and prefer to waste your time by telling us all that lol.

Hope you also waste your time along with all of us who are willing to contribute even if a single dollar, or beta testing, or in what any of our skills (or lack of them) might be.

Really hope and will contribute in any way for this bridge, just let me say a couple of things that I found in this thread and they're really disappointing.

I've made a home out of XOOPS since version 1, I have loved the way it has evolved into the great CMS it is now with 2.2.1, So I think that my loyalty and devotion to XOOPS it's proven over the years.

Yet what I find disappointing is that I see someone like Mithrandir who is a Core Developer, someone who should be showing the way also with attitude as a leader which I consider he should be for such projects, and yet what I'm seeing in each post is this :

"Xoops is great, XOOPS is the best, there is nothing that you will ever need besides Xoops" I'm afraid I don't agree.

Xoops is a great portal system : Yes.
Might be the best portal system : Definitely.
Has everything that you can offer in the internet : Far from it. There's no "all in one system just yet"

If we were to learn instead of questioning of everything that is good and apply it to our works, then maybe we could find an all in one solution, but I'm really sorry to say that Mithrandir sounds, with all due respect and hoping he can take this professionally, not too open to new ideas... To explain : Definitely not open to look into what's behind this

There is a simple fact, maybe so simple that Mithrandir's complex genius mind fails to grasp : It is not one, or two users who would want to see a marriage between XOOPS and SMF... I have seen posts in the SMF site, as well as in here... and in some PHP forums for that matter.

This is simple : People want it. there's demand behind this request.

What I think the main problem is is that Mithrandir and some developers want to see SMF as simply a module for Xoops, if photo galleries which have a very complex structure like Coppermine has been able to make a Bridging option with XOOPS with coppermine 1.4 beta (Not the hybrid and much restricted xcgal module which is very far from having all coppermine options) by having them as Standalones which simply recognize users from xoops, I don't understand why couldn't this be the case for SMF :

LET SMF BE A STANDALONE but using Usernames, groups and permissions from the XOOPS tables. Most of us have XOOPS and SMF and the only thing we don't like is for the visitors having to register both at XOOPS and in SMF.

I don't want to see SMF as "content" inside xoops, I don't even need the XOOPS menus on the left, and yes, the forum is a vital part of a community.

Really hope more open minded people take over this project because I'm afraid to say this is where Mambo is gaining ground quickly on XOOPS : The power of simplicity... they know people want something, they build it, not question why they want it.

Hope this isn't taken badly by mithrandir and a little suggestion : DO NOT REPLY until this has fully clicked in, you seem to be thinking of agressive comebacks instead of taking what might be useful instead of just biting back and taking it personally.

Thanks for your attention

Sergio

2.2.1 Table prefix not Xoops

Hi, I was wondering about what has been mentioned about some incompatibility with modules and all, and I noticed that when trying to install XOOPS 2.2.1 the table prefix recommended is "leave to default 'xoops' but the default I got there was Zmohq or Zmoqh something like that...

Can that cause problems with modules? Should change that to xoops_

Please advice before we install it :)

Thanks in advance

Hi, I hope that some people get to read this thread. I'll try to be brief.

We are starting an Online Racing community, and things are looking very well and busy. Some of my partners want to get started in a completely new system to provide league managers and drivers in general a new web-based content management system oriented to this purpose, but having been using and loving XOOPS ever since version 1, I insist that XOOPS is the way to go and I know that there are 1000s of XOOPS core and module developers who might like this project so it could be added to the great family of Xoops.

This project would of course have the intention to be included in xoops.org so everyone can benefit from a joint effort and I believe it's something that we still don't have, and believe me, the modules are well thought out for this project.

The features can be done with simple modules, simple for you, but I'm not good with the php - MySQL programming, but I'm sure that most of you would be able to make them in a flash, I have seen what you guys can do and they are more complicated things than what we need.

Please let me know either through this forum, private message or even an e-mail to finnerss@prodigy.net.mx

You can take a look at what we've done so far, using XOOPS 2.0 (and about to upgrade to 2.2 if all goes well) :

Please let me know

Best wishes

Good question, I haven't been able to find a latest release of XCgal in the modules and some other websites which are supposed to provide modules, help, etc. for Xoops...

I will be grateful if anyone could point me in the good direction. I'm looking forward to try XOOPS 2.2 when it's production stable too, but right now any previous friendly version of XCGal will be appreciated.

Thanks again :)

Thanks jdseymour,

As a matter of fact I had debug mode on, I tried it with the 3 debut options that I can find in the General Configuration panel, the one related to SQL and blocks, the one for PHP, and the other one related to modules I think? Well, thing is I tried it with all. but even the window that usually pops-up with info, didn't. Simply a blank page :(

This had not happened to me since XOOPS 1, but still, xcgallery seems to be running, I turned gdzip off (it was running just fine before, but I don't know if I should turn it back on.

Now the problem I have is that precisely I can't turn Debug off for XC gal... I've turned it off from the general configuration panel, and it seems to work perfect, except for XCgal. I've tried it in user mode, the debu info is still been generated below the categories list : here's what I get under the gallery :

If you could help me out, I'd really be grateful :( We need to launch this project very soon and I really want to do it with Xoops, it's like my home since 4 years ago...
