Stupid me... I forgot about finding in files because my server (on the same network as me) uses Samba for editing server files. In other words the find files didn't mesh so I stopped using it. lol

Well the find files on the server itself worked; in case anyone else was wondering, it's in LocalSettings.php, one of the first commands. Blanking it to "" seems to work.

Thanks for reminding me about that.

I posted this a while ago on the comments for the mod but now realize that wasn't really the right place...

Anyway, I am usinghttps://xoops.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=3013 and all the usernames start with "Xo.". Seehttp://68.48.55.94:27015/modules/mediawiki/index.php?title=Special:Recentchanges&days=30 for example.

Any idea how to fix this? It wasn't in user.php that I could find.

I don't particularly like Macs myself, but if i was a professional graphics designer or 3d modeller, or music producer, A Mac would be the choice of computer i'd use.

3DS Max doesn't run on mac (maya does... but then I don't use that) and I overall hate macs. Same MS BS, only with hardware monopoly. It would take me much longer to do what I do on a PC on a mac of the same cost. To morons, macs maybe good (not an insult, just a statment), but I have my PC overclocked and modded, and I like the freedom to do this. Apple, however, wants to sell me as much overpriced white painted parts as they can. I had many problems with my HP BIOS and overclocking- I don't want to think what would need done on a mac.

I'd much rather run on a crappy OS but with open hardware then run mac os on their crap.

I will be more then happy if I can get a VM to run well, but using free software would be nice... but I don't think they really care about anyone using blender other then the people who already use it. Kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Heaven forbid you bring the topic up with them, or you are just told to fork it and make your own.... glad this thinking doesn't go for all OSS.

And the worst part is, I'd be more then happy to fork it, but I forsee ego problems on their part keeping my fork from going anywhere.

[/rant 2]

If you read all this post, I'm sorry.

A wiki and some menu editing will probably do it for you.

I wish I could move to linux, but I do a lot of 3d modeling and blender just doesn't cut it. I have been working on settup up a VM to run apps that are windows-only (since my window filesystem can't get removed anyway, too much importent data).

I never bought windows- it came with my computers, but that's ending now since I decided from now on I build all my comps. I fully plan to boycot MS and other prop-software as soon as I can.

And all my comps dual boot (in the case of my server, it only has) SUSE. It's just the level of system control I want- no need to do tedious tasks like hand edit config files, but doesn't fight you when trying to do more complex tasks. The errors out of the box are annoying, but after the first time it's not hard to deal with. And it's not like other linux distros don't have them.

If you are using a personal server (like me) where you run it using your own internet connection, most ISPs block out-going mail commands. You in thory can fix this with some POP3 scripts, but I haven't been able to find/make any myself.

Sounds like something is wrong with your modules/system/admin folders. I would download XOOPS again and paste that folder overtop the one on the server. Make a backup first though, not sure if the install edits any of those files.

I seen things like that making my shell command console on the admin window, mostly caused by PHP that wasn't quite right or files out of place.

I have been running CBB "3.05" (or so the modules menu shows, I didn't think it was 3.....) and have a strange error.

Read boards don't work right. At first they didn't work at all, but I changed them to cookie mode (or was it SQL mode... I forget. Whatever it isn't by default) and it worked. Mostly. But it has an annoying error: whenever you post and it takes you to your new post, it doesn't mark something as read. If you go back to the index from that page, it shows the board as having new posts until you look at it, then it shows no new posts on the viewforum or index. It's not a cache issue as I have cache off.

I am thinking maybe a part of the code is missing that marks the board as read when taking you to the post, but I don't know what part of the code does that. Any ideas on a fix?

hello,
with cbb 3.05, i'm using this tip :
edit /modules/newbb/class/post.php, go to line 393

/*
$thread_buttons['quote']['image'] = newbb_displayImage($forumImage['p_quote'], _MD_QUOTE);
$thread_buttons['quote']['link'] = "reply.php?forum=" . $forum_id . "&topic_id=" . $topic_id . "&viewmode=$viewmode&order=$order&start=$start&quotedac=1";
$thread_buttons['quote']['name'] = _MD_QUOTE;
*/

remove /* and */ to uncomment this part.
save the file.
the quote button is now available for each post.
it works for me

Ahh, it works perfectly. Thank you so much!
