thank you so much! I will download a copy of WinRar so I can peek at the files myself (ongoing learning process here :) ).

Each time I make a backup, I've kept a file on the server, as well as downloading it to my computer, plus backing it up to my back up drive.

I've also download the files that you can restore yourself without the server admin, so hopefully I'm covering my bases, one of them should work in the event of a disaster eh? :)

It's 45 megs (site is fairly new), but I don't about the files included in the backup, as it's a *.tar.gz file. Not sure how to open that type of file.

I've read the FAQ's and tried to grasp it all, but I don't think I did :).

My host uses Control Panel(CPanel) 10.8.2-RELEASE 119, which has the option to generate a full site backup, which I do once a week.

My question is, does this back up everything, anyone know? My database, my modules, themes, xoops, etc?

thanks,
CJ

I wasn't aware of the latest release of CBB, I will check it out today, thank you.

I'm just a hobbyist, my technical knowledge is limited :). I did do a search, checked several other boards, and either couldn't find exactly what I needed or wasn't able to comprehend it :).

Probably the biggest issue is the forums always show all posts as new to everyone, you can't mark them as read. Well you can, but it doesn't work. :(

I have this same issue, as do all my users. I'd like to switch to phpBB instead, I just need to figure out how to export my data.

I'm finding CBB frustrating to use. I'd like to switch over to phpBB. Is there anyway to export my users and messages over to phpBB?

2nd question, is there a way to display a phpBB forum within Xoops, like the CBB board?

Thanks :)

I (nor any of my users) are able to mark the forums as read. When you choose the option, it appears to work, only everything remains as new topics. Any suggestions please?
thanks,

I am using XOOPS 2.014, I just upgraded it day before yesterday. I think you are correct, it is MyLinks I'm running, I just changed the name. Is weblinks better?
