going on your way of thinking, why are any of the older XOOPS version there too? like XOOPS 2.0.7 & 2.0.9 etc..

some people still use older module versions, that's why they are still there. it's an archive afterall ;)

i'd dread to think of the amount of complaints and moaning if the older versions were to suddenly not be available anymore.

vaughan,

I am not talking whether to archive or not, I am talking about the CURRENT stable distribution. Sorry me, but I really think it is better to give users the most latest the most easiest way.

Similar talks going on here also:https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?forum=8&topic_id=57101

This has been covered before.

Xoops will not be coming with modules as standard, as they become out-dated too easily.

This is why each release now comes with links advising people of where to get the latest releases of their modules from the authors sites.

However, the new repository will enable users to download the latest releases when it is complete. (Which will be in less than a couple of months probably)

Well,

I dont think this is the best approach. Thats like printing January magazine over the whole rest of the year while saying - stop by at the office for newer articles - so, kind of unproffesional, at least.

Is it really so hard, to build the package each month??? I do not think so. Many users toss XOOPS for a wrong reason. Believe me. I was one of them.

XOOPS could be a lot better CMS after cleaning few "process" bugs like this one.

Would it be possible to put the latest stable versions of the core XOOPS packages (news, forum etc.) to the XOOPS distribution file?

This question is my reaction to this thread:https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=57097&forum=8

Very fair question IHMO as it must be very confusing for new users.

IT IS!

Is there a way to change that? Why not to upgrade also other modules to their latest versions???? LIke news 1.0 to 1.4 etc.

Am watching this CMS for about a year and havent found a reasonably active dev site or a recent roadmap. How are the things?

Hi folks,

what about a design summary? Or what is the state of the topic today actually?
