Hallo culex,
the idea to do something with general groups I had in mind, too. But nothing good came out of it.
I don't know if I should create a new group of users called moderators? Would that change anything?
For now I have only two default groups: webmasters and registered users. Giving my (wanna-be-)ArMS-moderators webmastering permissions is not an option, I just want them to operate in a part of one module, not in the entire site.
There are also ranges, and there is a moderator range, but giving it to my ArMS moderators doesn't seem to change anything.

The only other thing I can think of is to give permissions to administrate the module to a whole group of users (via the system/ groups menu). That could be moderators group. But this means that the member of the group can administrate thru the whole ArMS module, in all sections and categories - no matter if he has moderating privileges or not. That makes the moderator function useless, and is not a solution I wanted. Though the closest to it...

Is there anyone using ArMS and having moderators feature working fine? If so, how did you make it??

Thank you for answering, ghia.
But no, there is no such a nice permissions form in the ArMS module as there is in the News. Alas.
There are two things to do, as far as I know:
- in general ArMS preferences page there is an option to allow moderators to activate articles (which I have checked "yes", of course, and I re-checked it a couple of times)
- in ArMS moderators page there is a form for adding a person to moderate a specific section.

The second thing is partially working, i.e. a moderator can see the activate buttons in the section he/ she moderates.

Other moderating activities function properly - moderators can successfully edit the articles in their section. Just the activation fails.
I have no idea what to do about it...

ArMS 4.0 problem with moderators

Hi all,
I use XOOPS 2.0.13.2 and ArMS 4.0 module, in which I've just encountered a problem.
Till now I was the only person managing the content of articles, but now I added moderators.

I thought that a moderator would have permissions to activate articles (i.e. to make them visible for all). And indeed, for a mod user the icon of activation becomes clickable and it sends to the confirmation page.
But then, when moderators try to confirm, they get the info: you don't have permissions to do it. (I've translated all lang files long ago and I don't remember now the exact English version of the text, it could be slightly different) Anyway, it seems that moderators can't do what they should be able to do. Still I have to log in as an admin and activate their articles by myself.

Should I do something more than adding moderators at the ArMS adm. page? Should the persons be in the general XOOPS Moderators group?

Help, please, anyone!
I'd like to develop my site and I don't want to lose the people who wish to contribute...

debianus, thank you for your answer. But I've examined all four of those possibilities and none resolved my problem... cookies are on, site's adress is in trusted in the firewall, the mainfile.php data is ok and the session table in the db I emptied. And I still can't log in..

I've tried also to look again into that Live-HTTP Headers addon and see what it says. I don't understand too much from its log, as I said before, but maybe something from this part is suspicious:
Quote:

Date: Wed, 29 Aug 2007 10:57:15 GMT
Server: Apache/1.3.37 (Unix) PHP/5.2.3 mod_auth_passthrough/1.8 mod_log_bytes/1.2 mod_bwlimited/1.4 mod_ssl/2.8.28 OpenSSL/0.9.7e-p1
Cache-Control: max-age=0
Expires: Wed, 29 Aug 2007 10:57:15 GMT
X-Powered-By: PHP/5.2.3
Keep-Alive: timeout=5, max=999
Connection: Keep-Alive
Transfer-Encoding: chunked
.

Namely, I'm not sure if the rows Date and Expires should show the same time? Maybe that's it? Or what means zero in the Cache-Control?

Well, I've installed that addon Dhurgan suggested, but.. I don't understand what it's saying to me :/
The only strange thing I've noticed is that something points to sb.google.com - have no idea what and why, but it probably has nothing to do with my problem.
What should I look for?

And for that kerkyra says about utf-8 encoding... I hope it's not that! My site is on utf! But it was working well for a few months with that...

Hello,
it seems I have a similar problem.
I haven't changed anything in my site, in fact haven't even go there for a few days, and suddenly I can't log in.
It looks fine at first, it says that logging was succesful, I can see the user menu, but when I try to enter anything from that menu (profile, messages, etc.), I get "access denied" screen and it throws me back to the main page as an anonymous.
No matter if I log in as user or admin - always the same.
So I can't enter the administration, in fact I can't do anything!

I've checked the mainfile.php if the DB data (user, password, etc.) is entered correctly, and it seems ok.
I tried also to fix the database, but I don't know if I did it from the right spot. My web account is administated by CPanel - there is some "DB administration" option; pushed "Repair" button there and it said that the base was ok.

Help, please! What's going on and what can I do?

I subscribe to this question. Is there such a file somewhere?
And I have also a further question.
Can I define my own codes and add them to the default list? I have in mind some special characters, which have to be input by their Unicode number, or pasted from somewhere else. Such chars are quite often used on my site, and it would be much easier to have a shortcut way to input them.

Yes, could you please explain the solution?
I have the same problem with cbb 2.30.1 - the userbar is not working, although it is enabled in the preferences site. I can see only the user's name and no menu is available no matter which type I choose (hover or select).
