If we have lucky we will have 2.4 in 1/2years and with more lucky we will have a upgrade script from 2.2.X.

The passwords are now saved in MD5 but also in SHA256.
This is not a totally secure method but it is a bit much more secure than using passwords only hashed with MD5.

This is absolut wrong.

With two ways of one side encryption we can obtain the original password with the decrypt.

PLEASE USE BEFORE SHA512. Please use only one encryption!

2.2.X
Today were fixes two bugs by rowd

Bug fixes:
1.
- Deactivate blocks when module deactivated
- Prevent deletion of unrelated block templates

2.
- Fix for bug #1570895: Some block templates not deleted when uninstalling a module

This fixes are allready in svn of 2.2.5 branches not in 2.2.5rc1.

This 2.2.5 series have 7 months of development (only 1/2 months maybe real time of development), we like very much this fixes but we need some improvement in the core so we are waiting for the (very slow development) 2.3.0 and for 2.4.x to upgrade...

I don't think that the better way to release the 2.3.0 is developing the core of 2.0.x, else if the 2.0.x will upgrade with a minor upgrade. (eg. 2.2.15/16 are a 2.3.0apha)

When will release the 2.3.0 version?
The 2.2.0 are allready the near 2.3.0 version?
The 2.3.0 are a near full new core, or 2.0.x core?
The 2.3.0 have a big change in the core or the core are changing and changing with the upgrades of 2.0.x.

You can test the 2.2.5rc1 (and maybe this rc1 are the 2.2.5 final)
here:

I'm using this 2.2.5rc1, and until now, everything is fine!

patagon, as you said, deadline or time table is hard to set for software dev, especially open source project.
I would expect the 2.3 final available in months, one or two? maybe

we can watch the progress by checking XOOPS SVN

now are 2006/07/27

we would expect the 2.3 final available in more 4 months. (with lucky)

The problem is that the Devs are working in 3 version of xoops, I never see this on others open source project..

E.g. Ubuntu Linux, when one release is out.. they working in the next relase, and only fix bugs in the past version.

Here in XOOPS not.. you implements new thing in 2.2, and next stop 2.2 version. only bug fixes now( i don't now here the bugs fixes are, but...)

Now you implements new thing in 2.3 (alpha), now you stop 2.3, and are implements new thing to 2.0.

What is this??
This isn't the problem to the development of xoops, (slow many bugs, etc..)

before we have only one XOOPS 2.0 (stable)
then we have two xoops, XOOPS 2.0 (stable) 2.2 (stable)
now we have three xoops, XOOPS 2.0 (stable) 2.2 (instable) 2.3 (developement)

and in this three version we are development? I not only one?

I actually made a lot of hacks to the core of 2.2.3 to add mapping and location management. I'm a little dissapointed that i will not be able to upgrade to 2.3, but oh well...

i guess i will patiently wait for 2.4 (or whatever it's called).

edit: also, let me add that it really should be a lot easier for people to see how exactly they can contribute, and how their contributions are helping progress. doesn't matter whether that's thru donating or writing code.

i know i would give money if i thought it would make 2.4 get here quicker, but i have no reason to believe that it will.
