I've noticed in the svn XOOPS version 2.2.5 and am going to give it a spin. Has anyone else tried it?

It has not yet been released, so I wouldnt recommend to until it has been announced as being suitable for usage or testing.

There's always a new version ready in the svn, it has all the old files, and any changes that made it to the jit branch (just in case). You'll notice there's also a 2.0.16 branch, this is to collect (and test) bug fixes and the like on 2.0.15, just in case a 2.0.16 release is needed.

This means that testing 2.2.5 is always good, but don't expect it to be pre-release worthy untill it is announced as such by the devs

You are both right. However I've been reading the svn log and see quite a number of bug fixes and issues solved. That peaked my curiosity as to weather 2.2.5 was worth testing.
But I guess I'll wait till it's released.

On the other hand - you could download and use it locally to test

When it's ready for use or test, i'm sure you'll see something on the news page

I'm patch my XOOPS 2.2.x almost everyday form svn. This new update as just a fix-release of just a few thing..

I think this 2.2.5rc1 are free of bugs..

Good to hear that you are not having problems Max, although remember the code may have odd changes at this point..... so remember to keep backups!!

Can you inform the core devs on Sourceforge if there are any issues with the code you are using?

Thanks!

2.2.X
Today were fixes two bugs by rowd

Bug fixes:
1.
- Deactivate blocks when module deactivated
- Prevent deletion of unrelated block templates

2.
- Fix for bug #1570895: Some block templates not deleted when uninstalling a module

This fixes are allready in svn of 2.2.5 branches not in 2.2.5rc1.

This 2.2.5 series have 7 months of development (only 1/2 months maybe real time of development), we like very much this fixes but we need some improvement in the core so we are waiting for the (very slow development) 2.3.0 and for 2.4.x to upgrade...

I don't think that the better way to release the 2.3.0 is developing the core of 2.0.x, else if the 2.0.x will upgrade with a minor upgrade. (eg. 2.2.15/16 are a 2.3.0apha)

When will release the 2.3.0 version?
The 2.2.0 are allready the near 2.3.0 version?
The 2.3.0 are a near full new core, or 2.0.x core?
The 2.3.0 have a big change in the core or the core are changing and changing with the upgrades of 2.0.x.
