Specific Layout Questions

I have been working on a few new designs for my site which is currently running the up to date XOOPS and NEWBB2 and a few other things. I have run into some minor issues and work arounds that I am trying to figure out.

Below are the links to two different layouts I am trying to accomplish. The first is the home page, the second is specifically for the fourms (and then there should be a third , not shown, which would be just for the content, so a left block area and then the main content area).

I guess the major thing is, can I accomplish these three layouts into the same site. It seems when I get one going, it goes site-wide. It doesn't just do it for specific pages I want it to go for. I think I am missing something simple.

Thanks,

Brad

Re: Module Creation Documents

That's exactly what I was looking for. I was just looking in the wrong place. Thanks for your help. I apologize for missing information that is included in an easy to see place. I took the development links as core development and bug fixes... an oversight by me.

Thanks again,

Brad

Module Creation Documents

I have looked and maybe I am looking in the right area, but I was wondering if there were the basics of module creation documented somewhere.

I know php and MySQL, but I am not sure about the XOOPS API, or what I need to include when creating modules so they work seemlessly with the system.

Re: What is the difference between Xoops and Php nuke?

I would like to see what these so called "really cool" themes are. I have not seen any great themes for any opensource CMS that is available for the public to use. I have seen a lot of creative things done on websites that someone (company or creative individual) have done very well, but they are not for download, they are personal use only.

I think almost every free theme out there for all of the communities are typically not very appealing. There are some clean ones, there are some that have some bite to them, but they typically fall short.

Of course I am always willing to be proven wrong. So if others know of any great looking themes, I would like to see them. I typically develop things for my own personal needs, so I could be missing a great deal of free themes out there.

Re: Xoops Native Forums (Not Refreshing with Content)

Well of course it had to be something easy and stupid on my part.

You are correct, I did have caching on. I forget why I turned it on (I think I was on crack or something).

Thanks for your quick response. I can already say, this is the fastest response I have gotten from any opensource CMS community.

and the most helpful on what most would consider a "dumb question"

So thanks guys, your CMS has already won me over, but the ccommunity has definitely affirmed my decision.

Xoops Native Forums (Not Refreshing with Content)

I am new to XOOPS and have found it relatively easy to find my way around and get things in order. My background started with phpNuke, then PostNuke, then Mambo, and quite a few others on a trial basis.

I have come to a point where I think XOOPS has everything I could hope for and it looks to be easy enough to make modules if I need to expand its capabilities.

So, my problem comes with the forums. I have an issue with the forums. I am not sure exactly what is going on, but it seems that after the first few posts on the message board, it started having issues with showing posts. They are there, they will show up eventually... but they don't appear on the forums after you post.

The first few times I used it, it worked very well. Then, one of my admins made a post the other day (probably only the 5th new topic started) and it didn't show up. So I made a post. I submitted the post, was redirected to my post, saw that it was there and thought my admin was on crack, but when I went to the parent link of the forum, it didn't show up as a topic. It was like it wasn;t there. It showed up a day later.

I went to the forum admin and synched the topics and database data, but still to no avail.

Everything we have posted since then seemingly takes a day to update.

If someone knows what might be going on I would appreciate some help. I have yet to create any templates or any designs. I have not messed with the core code, or any code... I was just trying to figure it out before I went further with development.

Thanks again,

Brad
