What's the difference between Unix and Linux?

It's a tough question to answer. Many things are different codewise and administration-wise... so where to begin? But basically both systems fulfil the same need. The need to easily create and manage dynamic websites.

Oh! I see a big difference at this moment.

Php nuke is not free, but XOOPS does.

Well, the main distribution of PHP Nuke isn't free (see here. But I think there are some free distros out there. XOOPS.org will keep the XOOPS core distro free, for as long as that is possible (circumstances may change).

*edit* Here is a free distro of PHP Nuke. This is within the limits of the GPL: you may charge, but you may not restrict the buyer in what he does with it (even releasing it for free).

kenneth: yes it is. The GPL does not allow them to restrict your usage of their code. However, wouldn't you like to use XOOPS, as that is SO much better!

I hope this will never happen since it would mean the end of XOOPS

Forget PHP,

I am a complete noob and have foubd ALL the support from XOOPS forums, sometimes with near instant replies!

I love Xoops; its user friendly, it free, and support is excellent.

Perhaps a few more mods could be available (like a phone directory ) but otherwise I am so pleased with it.
