So I wonder if you could use the current registration system, modify the PHP file in the english directory to meet my sites needs and functionality. Then as users register, create a group based only on their user name and create 'modules' and tools that are strictly protected by their "group name"... not sure I'm makeing sense... But my goal is to create a portal that handles real estate transactions, including management, that allows the users to interact with agents and follow progress online. I swear XOOPS can be modified for this use, but I could be wrong... Input is appreciated!!

Greetings,

Just downloaded and installed the latest version of XOOPS 2.0.15 and was wondering if this issue has been addressed? Is there role based registration available yet or a module?

Regards to all those hard core developers!!!

The following best illustrates why I chose phphurts as my nom de plume...

Instead of living constricted by the structure of the current user registration set up in the core, what if one just designed around it? like create a new registration module that is called out or perhaps a formulize solution? I just wanna capture the data in mysql, and verify email.

my head hurts...

I've searched the threads for a reasonable, refined solution to change the registration screen... For example, my user's will fall into several groups... Broker's, Agent's, Outside Broker's, Outside Agent's, Client's, Outside Customers and Vendor's... The registration form ask's questions that are irrelevant to my type of site, such as show email address to others? Or the request for Homepage info doe's apply to vendor's but not clients... Also, I would like to collect the new user's physical address and contact numbers at this point... Anyway, wondering if the next version will allow for such thing's, and when it is expected in release... It would be great if each group was given abilities to customize new user set up...

Found a guide in French but I just couldn't follow along enough, to make it work... Involved alot of hacking of the XOOPS kernal files.... Not something I really wanna tackle if I don't have to.... Any help is greatly appreciated?!?!

So then your saying Banned that I can have a different theme setup in each module? I wanna a radically different interface for Agents at my website from cutomers, and another interface for Brokers.... Trying to figure out if a module for each might be the solution.

Good Morning SMD,

It doe's say exoops in the attributes but I was told it was written for xoops. Could that be why it use's a secondary user management layer?

It works very similar to the regular version of open realty, so I figured it was just a quick hack by the guy into a module.

I'm interested in setting it up for a little while, while I build a rets based interface for the real estate site.

If anybody has any knowledge or has seen a similar application please hollar!

Been playing with this version:

$modversion['name'] = 'Real Estate Listings Engine 2.1 w/Virtual Tour';
$modversion['version'] = 2.1;
$modversion['description'] = 'Complete Real Estate Listings Engine with Virtual Tours. Read the Read me for more information.';
$modversion['credits'] = 'E-xoops Conversion: DJ Downey <br> (Original version: Jon Roig & Ryan Bonham)';
$modversion['author'] = 'DJ Downey<br>http://www.liquidgfx.com<br> Jon Roig<br>http://www.jonroig.com<br>Ryan Bonham<br>http://www.open-reality.com';

___________________

Sets up the database fine but requires another login, and static user levels within the mod... Was wondering how hard it would be to hack it so that XOOPS served as the authorizer, and so that open realty would allow user levels as associated by XOOPS user management?

I could easily control where the pages went and allow customers to input listings, allow me to review them then activate the listing after accuracy and listing agreements are signed.

I can email the mod to anyone who might like a copy or would be interested in integrating it more fully?

Liquidfx is apparently gone.

I may be all wet...

As I think about this, if protector is involved in stopping session stealing, then a fresh login page doesn't have a session to steal??? My head hurts.....

Hi Monty,

I did verify that protector shows up in anon in the admin panel for protector... My reasoning for assuming that protector is not functioning is somewhat less clear... In the setup theme I am running in the left column where protector resides, before I installed protector in that column, I had removed everything else, including the menu's so the left column was stripped empty.... This caused my theme to not place anythng on the left side graphic... So when I had content active in the center column the left side graphic did not appear and the page loooked funny... After I installed protector the, suddenly the page returned to it's buetifal appearence with the complete graphic.... Mind you the only thing present in the left column was protector... When I click on login, I again have the ugly unfinished theme, because i stripped the menu's out of the login page, and I am assuming that if the protector module was there, it would fix the graphic problem.... I could be nuts, and probably am....

I started thinking that the login page is directly addressed and not residing in a module, thus the protector isn't somehow invoked.... Like I said, I'm probably nuts....
