You don't have to use a XOOPS module to do what you want to accomplish.

Yes, it would be nice to have such a thing that integrated easily into XOOPS, but you can always install a second application next to XOOPS and link to it.

I've done this successfully with phpCoin and phpAdsNew, both available throughhttp://www.sourceforge.net

This leads me to the main point. Go tohttp://www.sourceforge.net and search for a dating module that uses MySQL and preferably PHP (Though there's no reason why it has to be written in PHP).
Here are a few I've seen that are in PHP:

absolutemeeting.com match/dating engine

phpDD

phpMatchmaker

Hope this helps.

Why not just create a page in the home folder called index.html and then have whatever you want in this static page. Then, have a link to your XOOPS page on that html page.

To do this neatly, you should install XOOPS in its own folder, not in the root of your main site.

I have mine set up in a folder called /bb

So i call my XOOPS withhttp://www.scalr.com/bb

To see an example of a page that uses the same theme and cascading style sheet as XOOPS but is a simple html page that redirects to xoops, check out http://www.yyzlifestyle.com

You should be able to find the file in the following upgrade:

XOOPS 2.0.9.2 to 2.9.9.3

Go to PHP MyAdmin and enter what you would have entered at the prompt as a query.

SET PASSWORD FOR 'some_user'@'some_host' = OLD_PASSWORD('newpwd');

this is the same as the command line if you know how to structure your query.

Is it possible to be able to attribute a quote to someone?
I would like to use this format when using the XOOPS BB code to quote:

[quote=username]text[/quote]

I'd like the username to link to the person's account if it exists, but to just display the name if the username doesn't exist.

Has someone already done this? Or is this an upcoming feature?

I found this link and have added it to the footers of all of my sites using very nondescript links:

Quote:
<a href="http://www.hostedscripts.com/scripts/antispam.html">.</a>

This directs spam harvesters to a page where their databases will be filled up with hundreds of randomly generated email addresses of the format velgktabat@zsmfebkpclktsks.com. This will cause them to constantly have to clean out their databases.
In fact, the page actually causes the harvesters to go through an infinite loop.

I know this is a stop-gap measure and that someone could filter out any links tohttp://www.hostedscripts.com from their robots. But hopefully it will disuade people from engaging in this nefarious practice.

I went into the database using PHPMyAdmin and set the value for _MD_AM_MAILERMETHOD in the xoops_config table to smtpauth.

XOOPS mail seems to be working properly now, but I still have blank drop down lists in the System module!

I followed the instructions and reinstalled the system module as well as all of my other modules.

Several, but not all of the drop down menus in my system module are actually empty, not just blanked out. They have no options in them and the fields are the minimum length.

Maybe I should reinstall and try to salvage what I've have.

I've attached pictures.

Now that I've checked, I've noticed that ALL of the drop down lists are empty in all of the modules including the system module.

Is this some sort of database corruption?

Anyway, are you using a custom template? You'll want to delete and update the templates in the System module. You can look at the upgrade files to see which templates have been changed or just do them all. Of course you'll want to make a backup so any custom edits are put back in.

I do use a custom template and I've deleted and regenerated all of the system templates, but the same problem remains :(
