I agree, XOOPS does have better modules for this, but the social networking aspects are pretty cool. This also lets you embed youtube videos. I wish shoutbox could do that.

So I read an article today talking about Google's new Friend Connect. When I was looking through I found that they had this gadget that looks and functions just like a shoutbox.

It's dead simple to setup and use friend connect. I have it running on my site as you can see here.

Let me know what you guys think.

upload youtube videos from xoops site via new youtube api

In case some of you haven't heard, youtube has released a few developer API's which allow you to upload videos to youtube via any website.

It would be awesome if someone developed a module for XOOPS using these api's.

I'm thinking like a module that any member can go to to either enter the url of a specific video they'd want to share or upload their own and have it show on the sites "videos" section. Complete with comments and all that stuff.

I don't have root access to the server, it's a shared plan. I know it's possible though. Perhaps some sort of .htaccess file or something like that on the server site that points domain requests to a specific folder or something to that effect.

Ok, so I have a host where I have a "public_html" folder. I have my domain name pointed towards the ip address of the server via my dns. All works well.

However now I want to host a second site on that same server. I want the new url to point to "public_html/newsite" which will be the root directory for the new site, however I don't know how to point "http://www.newsite.com" to "http://www.oldsite.com/newsite" without all the links on the page showing up like "http://www.oldsite.com/newsite/modules..."

I can do a URL redirect via my DNS, but that will just redirect new site to old site and show the oldsite url

I can do a url frame, via my DNS, but again that will just show the newsite url in the address bar, but all the links will still show oldsite.

I don't care about combining databases as I want them separate, I just don't know how to configure it all with my webhost, xoops, and dns.

Any help would be appreciated.

Clan Database Module

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to create a clan database module.

Module would have the ability for a user to:

-Upload their clan logo
-A place for a name
-A place for their tags
-A place for people to request to join the clan
-A place for them to admin their clan
-A place for them to add clan events
-A place for them to add their clan servers
-A place that shows a list of all active members on the site who are also part of their clan

If someone could put something together like this I would be willing to pay money for it.

reduce cpu usage?

The server for my site has told me that certain files on my site are being used a bit too much and causing it to crash.

Quote:

The above is what he sent me. Anyone know how I can reduce the CPU usage of these files?

Anyone know of any modules or hacks that would allow my users to upload pics to their profile? Kinda like on myspace, where it has the user pics section?

Gaming Module: Games Played...

I have a decent size gaming site (BornSlacker.com) and with all the players on it, I thought it would be cool to have a section that showed who plays what games along with their xfire name. We use the "Team" module (which is great) for our roster and other match information, but it would be kinda cool to see who plays what games, so you know who to meet up with.

My question is, does anyone know of any modules that already do this, or do you know of a module that might be able to be tweaked to do this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
