Hi,

In case anyone else might want to duplicate shoutbox 3.1 in the near present or far future..

* Change the directory name from shoutbox to the name you want to call the module. (e.g. shoutbox2, mimichoochoo, etc..)

* Now you want to change a few bits of text, so:

a. Open the modinfo.php files from the language folders. (I did only the english file for now..)

b. Open xoops_version.php.

* In the modinfo.php files -

a. Where it is:
// The name of this module
define("_MI_SHOUTBOX_NAME","shoutbox");
- change "shoutbox" to the name of your folder.

b. Where it is:
Names of blocks for this module (Not all module has blocks)
define("_MI_SHOUTBOX_BLOCK","shoutbox");
- change "shoutbox" to the name of your folder.

c. Where it is:
// Categories
define("_MI_SHOUTBOX_CAT1","Global Settings2");
define("_MI_SHOUTBOX_CAT2","Block Settings2");
define("_MI_SHOUTBOX_CAT3","PopUp Settings2");

- Change _MI_SHOUTBOX_CATs to something else.. I did:
define("_MI_SHOUTBOX_CATa1","Global Settings2");
define("_MI_SHOUTBOX_CATb2","Block Settings2");
define("_MI_SHOUTBOX_CATc3","PopUp Settings2");

d. Last hack bit is on xoops_version.php. Just search for _MI_SHOUTBOX_CAT1, _MI_SHOUTBOX_CAT2 and _MI_SHOUTBOX_CAT3 - and change these to what ever you renamed in stage c...

That's it. Now it should be ready to upload, and if it all goes well - a new instance of the shoutbox should work...

The module can be used as a chat tool (can do automatic refresh), and multiple instances can let groups leave messages that remain within the group... But most importantly, it can make a sound when used, so with a few of them working with different loops, you can compose something.. ;)

Best wishes!

I set it visible to anyone on tiny content module...

I installed and reinstalled over and again. It now works, and shows up on the blocks admin page - but still, this is a flacky behaviour..

Best wishes!

Hi,

Installed shoutbox 3.1 and adjusted the block to be visible on the left.
When I came back to the block admin panel, the shoutbox block option had gone...
(Using XOOPS 2.0.10..)

Any ideas..?

Thanks!

Liga Manager Online 2.2 is to relay results and tables. e.g. Brasil - 1 | Mexico - 0, who scored the goal etc.. A fantasy league will enable users to, for example, pick their own players from various teams. Each player gets points based on how well they played. If the team of players you've picked done good, your team in the fantasy league gets a better place...

Thanks!

Hummm... Blocks... So many crossing metaphors.. ;)

Via the admin-blocks feature, I can tell the system to put block from say, newbb, on the left, centre, right etc. of the page.
However, being a bit eccentric, I'd like to place a few blocks from various modules in a few specific places on the page. For example, 66 pixels from the top left corner..

To do that, I need to hard code the call for the block, on the theme page..(?) I thought that simply doing a php include will do the trick - but it does not..
There must be a way to code the call for a module's block without using the admin-blocks feature, isn't it..?

Hope that is clearer..

Thanks!

Unfortunately, I am not a software programmer, hence the type of questions...

Sounds like an easy and flexible RSS solution in XOOPS is far. My guess is that it could make it worth the waiting if such a solution included podcasting and other media capabilities. This will make XOOPS irresistible solution for a large number of people, specially artists/musicians... People who want to put up a site, be in control of it - but do not want to deal too much with programming..

Best wishes!

Yes, this is an interesting module. However, unless I am missing something, it does not make each section or page in a XOOPS site - RSSable. i.e. if you run a module that does not produce an xml/rss file - xmline is unable to make such a file...

Best wishes!
