This is a dev issue with the management of XOOPS. On some things they seemingly are not concerned on fixing. Lack of good management the product always suffers. They can not seems to get the version correct without the user having to peek at a script to see the correct version. So yes, the footer of each XOOPS page will most likely display the wrong version even after a new install. This is really encouraging.

Even on a new installation the version numbers which are displayed at page bottom are incorrect. This is revealing how the development or XOOPS management is is not up to par.

I have Installed over 5 XOOPS sites with no problems. I just moved to a new hosting service and now upon installing XOOPS I get a blank page after the install was completed. I was able to complete my users name and password. After the install it says "Click Here to go to XOOPS." I did and now I I get a blank page.

Is this a MySQL issue? Seems if it were, that XOOPS would have picked this up while in the process of installling.

Could this a permission issue?

I would sure appreciate some help.

Quality control issues with XOOPS management and product?

I am using XOOPS 2.0.9. I would like to hide the forums that are private. I see no provision for this.

Question 2 - Why is there no reference to this module's name? How can you talk intelligently about something if you don't know its name? After some investigation, I find out it is indeed newb. And why when I go to forum module Control Panel and go to: preferences I see on top "XOOPS News?" Is anyone proofing these modules in that they are labeled and documented correctly? I do not see this kind of proofing in several other modules that XOOPS releases.

Why is there no bug report or version fixes listed here? This I think is basic information - is this a new concept? Of course not, then why is it not being implemented here?

Summary: I would like to think that extra care was given when a module is approved and published by the XOOOPS team. Let's first start with showing the name of the each module that is contained within the control panel. How best to spred the word about XOOPS when these management issues are corrected. I will be the first to volunteer to help - but someone needs to lead.

Please help,

Rick

However, I try not to make those assumptions - as the penalty could be at a high cost. One byte difference can change the world. I think this is a quality control issue, if so - this does not feel good.

Some of you are making the assumption that all errors are accurately responding to the particular event.

Interesting, I was using Coffee Cup Fee Zip - for years and the downloaded zip file showed 0 bytes. Then I downloaded the lastest version of Coffee Cup and still no change. It was only after downloading another zip utility did I have success. Still got an error prompt but the file seems to work fine.

How does the XOOPS team allow a file to unpack with an error? Yes, even a date error.

The download file on XOOPS 2.9 contains an error: "Invalid argument to date encode," coming from the report of my zip utility on two separate downloads on two different machines. I have tested out the zip utility and it works fine. I've also downloaded again the same file with the same results.

I also received an error on the tar file from a separate utility.

Hi Bumbum,

You say:

If I follow on from that e.g. phpaddsnew/html/modules/adds/ the files I need are there so it's only the final directory that I require 'adds'.

Which version of phpAdNews are you referencing? I have no problem with 1.3 it is version 2.x that I do not think has a XOOPS module.

I have removed these folders but these entries are still there. I think this is possibly a weak part of the module management module is that unknown mods can add null tables.

Can you fix this in the mysql?

Rick
