Wow...in Australia, we celebrate by drinking beer

...and in Thailand, we celebrate by drinking beer and (if desperate) Mekong whiskey. And think about what we are are going to do for the Thai and Chinese New Years

Hi GadgetMn

We've done something like this using the Spotlight module to 'pin' the cover of our magazine (and an 'in this issue' blurb) on the home page. If you created a magazine category in the news module it would be automatically be archived as well.

Our test site (with some very sucky logos) has this up...and some magazines you can download, if you like fish :)

It's a problem with the way IE5 deals with CSS (ie. not very well). Its fairly easy to work around though.

Have a look at this thread, you will also need to refer to the annotated guide to the XOOPs CSS to see where to change things.

We've done something similar (changing the logo and navigation bar for different categories within a module), using the ID for each category to determine the appropriate display.

There's a test site up that does this for the news, links and downloads modules. If this looks like it might be useful to you let me know and we'll provide more info next week.

It works pretty well so long as you don't need to add new categories all the time - since you do have to go in and add the IDs for each new category that you create. I think WF-Section uses article IDs, not category IDs, so it might not be very convenient with that particular module if you are using it to publish a lot.

I asked about this a couple of days ago...there is already a module called Lykos Syndication that apparently do this already

Spotlight - how to turn off other news??

I'm having a bit of trouble turning off the 'other news' in spotlight. I'd like to stop the list of other headlines appearing.

In the 'settings for other articles' area of the block there is a 'Display X articles' box - if you enter 5 it displays 5 headlines etc no problem. But if I enter '0' it displays *all* of them !!

Is this normal ? Anyway to turn it off ? Thanks

Maybe this thread would be of interest to you - apparently there is some work going on to allow setting up subcommunities within a single XOOPs site.
